Once again Kirk was not going to sign so they had to do something so im asking shark would you feel better if skins did not get alex and kept fuller drafted the 3rd or 4rth best qb .. me i feel since kirk was not going to resign this was a very good option we will be fine without fuller we still got draft picks and FA yet but i do agree that we did not get better at the qb spot we just filled a hole left by kirk that is safe .. when i mean safe i mean kirk and alex is about the same but we will draft a qb to this year or next

Cousin's didn't refuse to sign. The Redskins have not talked to his agent since Nov. Clearly the Redskins decided to move on. Had the Redskins made an offer of $23.5 million a year average or really any offer then you could say Cousin's refused to sign it. That is not what happened.

All that said Alex Smith is now the QB of the Redskins so the only reason to pay attention to Cousin's is if he plays great and Smith sucks. If Smith plays well this will all be water under the bridge. It is really all very simple.

I would feel better if we didn’t make this trade, regardless of QB.

Actually yes I would feel alot better if they had shown a level of patience. Smith is another typical Dan Snyder move.

Former #1 pick, did OK in some one elses system.. so lets over extend to get THAT guy. I been saying for months, I didnt know HOW Bruce was going to screw this up, only that he would. I would have preferred they roll with Colt and Drafted Rudolph in the 2nd round.

However, the fact is, no details of Smith's contract have been released. Not even the sketchy rumor sites have anything on it. That means Colin is guessing/misunderstanding when he says "only $18M guaranteed." The details of the deal will come out in a few weeks and we'll know for sure then. I'll be very surprised if his base salary + roster bonus + workout bonus (without incentives) don't add up to 20M every year (i.e., his cap hit will be at least 20M/year).
