Good defense STARTS at the LOS.

Upgrade the D-line FIRST then work your way back. Payne or Vea help improve this defense a lot more than a safety, and according to a lot of people, we apparently don't need a corner.

So the first SHOULD be D-line/ILB

I not fucking buying in to this defense gotten worse without fuller lol that does not even make since c'mon man teams lose cbs every year and still manage

please tell me how losing 2 starting CBS makes us better ? you can move up FM but he had like less then 50 snaps and hosley who had 5 snaps , at best the expectation is they will look like dox last season

now we have mr brown and his 10 mil a year contract demands , alex smith ate up 20 mil so no real wind fall there so 34 mil after smith trade - 10 mil comes in at 24 mil and we havent looked at sign TM or JR yet on defense . the 21st ranked defense mind you , now we have Long , grant lavou on offense to resign and we will loose 2 wrs from our team last season coach ,

so with all the resigns and such you might get 1 quality new FA if we hit on it right

we lost a top 100 pick so again some needs will go for naught again this year

We have not had that consistency out of anyone not named Kerrigan. You saw what speed (Brown) did for our defense. Without Brown last year, we could have been really bad. We need more speed, nastiness and attitude on our defense, period!

you guys are talking to an allen puppet , allen believes in neglecting the LOS and drafting style over substance so drafting a payne or vea doesnt compute just like not drafting one of the 3 stud OGS that could be on the board , nelson wynn or hernadez .

we have to draft safety because james is more sexy .

my thoughts are nicholson has the range and ballhawking skills we need at starting FS however some BU help is in order .

we need to take care of the LOS first on either side of the ball because we need a top 15 defense to win with AS

AS will need protection and another RB and wr . i cant see us getting this done in one off season when we created a unnecessary whole at CB

I actually onboard with the Norte Dame guard at #13 but I don't think he will be there. LG is a huge hole right now. My top three guys right now are 1) James 2) Smith 3)ND OG

Mike Wallace WR....5 mil per season...still a burner
Andre Smith G/T...3 mil per season...ties to Gruden
Haloti Ngata NT...6 mil per season...straight HOF
Karlos Dansby ILB...2 mil per season...still tackling
Navarro Bowman ILB...3 mil per season...let Brown go
Reggie Nelson FS...2 mil per season...call it a wrap

7 free agents and all are PBers with at least 2 going to the HOF. Plug them holes because corner isn’t one of them.

Oh...I would also trade next year’s second for Dez and it could change to a first if Dez goes for 1000 yards and 7 TDs.

I don’t get the pass rusher thing. Our top two had 21 combined sacks. Only Arizona 22.5 (17 from chandler Jones), JAX 26.5 which was really impressive with three players over 8, Dallas 21.5 but their number two had fewer than Smith, Chargers at 23, and Carolina 22 had more sacks as a duo.

But what if the defense had gotten worse? isn't the question worse than what? If it was shit with flies with him, subtracting the flies doesn't make it something different.

Agreed that we no longer have a very good corner with the loss of Fuller, However, our team defensive ranking was 27th with him, do you honestly believe that it makes any difference that we'd drop to 28th without him?

As I wrote in response to another poster, with him we're shit with flies, without him we're shit without them buzzing around. In the end we're still shit!

I am not disputing that. I just find the pass rusher statement funny. We had the seventh most sacks as a team in 2017. Only three guys had more sacks than Kerrigan. Only four teams had their second best pass rusher with more sacks than Preston Smith. We need to get better along the DL...we need to get better over the middle...then we can see if we need to improve elsewhere.

In any case you'd still have to bring in good young players, losing one doesn't stop that from happening. I suspect that getting another good young CB is still possible, even though, I too, did not like losing the original one. It's football, things like this happens and for us, it happens a lot. Doesn't bother me a bit anymore.

wrong how many times has Doug williams said build the lines is the best thing to do i counted 4 times and isnt he part of talent recruiter draft guy

You still need good young players. It is a lot easier to know a player is good then hope the one you are thinking is actually good.
