Why did Saban hire Lane Kiffin?

Was it because of the HUNH?

He hated Nussmeier's play calling. He obviously sees something he likes with Kiffin. I'm still not a Kiffin fan but I will give him a chance. He won't be in the position that has gotten him his bad PR, head coach and interviews.
If he has that offense humming I'll find a way to put up with him. No reason to believe it but I think Bama does run several packages of HUNH.

Wondering if Saban did run the HUNH would he catch shit for it or complimented for running it? :noidea:

Since it's Saban thinking he catches shit. Didn't he also kill Hoffa?

Well if Saban were to run the HUNH he would be basically telling the world that he was either lying about it being unsafe or he doesn't give a shit and is willing to put players at risk. Either way he catches hell but that would be 100% fair since he ran his mouth and even gave testimony on the subject.

I wouldn't put it past Slaban. Although he seems more likely to lean towards a Georgia Directional school or a mid major............okay maybe not a mid major. They have been known to bite Lil Nick.

Is that really an OSU fan making fun of someone's schedule? :laugh3: No Saban would rather play OSU. Get some credit for an easy win. Say what you want but Saban aint no dummy!

Did he ever say it was unsafe? Here we go again! He said the committee should review it. How do you get he said it was unsafe from that quote? Putting words in his mouth?

All he has to say is apparently the committee didn't think it was at this time so he will go by their actions and feel very comfortable with their decision and run it. Try not to be so tunnel visioned. Doesn't seem difficult to me.

Or he could say all the other coaches must be right.

Saban will catch hell no matter what, facts don't matter when it comes to hate.

"Saban wants college more like the NFL. Ok, then recruiting needs to be like draft picks so one school doesn't get better players. Safer!"

"But let's not forget the issue here. The issue I'm arguing for is the increased number of exposures, the player safety issue. I don't see how logically it can't be, but we should at least do a study to find out. I guess the question is: How do we manage it in the meantime? Do we let them keep going, or do we slow them down?" - Nick Saban

That is a direct quote that certainly implies he feels the increased number of exposures is not safe. Not quit playing semantic games and at least try to keep this thing real.

Didn't MSU lose a lot? Plus @ Oregon I have to go with Ducks. I don't know but I would think it comes down to the defense for Oregon? I am one of these people who think Stanford is going to dip for a few years soon. Seems like they came on so quick with Luck at QB. I wonder how deep they really are? USC still going to be down. I think Utah still has some adjusting to do, Keep an eye on UCLA. Not sure who the dark horses are? Arizona? Arizona St? Washington could factor heavily?

Dark horse.... OSU. Zona replaces the entire offense backfield. ASU will be solid. Washington will suck like usual.

UCLA will be good. Stanford lost a ton. One of the best classes in PAC history is leaving that school. But they will be a favorite anyways.

Most likely the Ducks will be favored to win the PAC.

I know MSU lost that DB and a few other defensive starters. I think they will be good again, maybe not as good as last year.

You agree the NFL is the most popular sport in America? How many plays did Philadelphia with Chip Kelly average? Do you think he wanted more? If he did why couldn't he? Could it be because the inmates don't run the prison in the NFL. The officials do. :noidea:

Oregon will lose 3 games next year. They are going to lose right out of the gate in their 2nd game to Michigan St. And then probably UCLA and Stanford yet again.

Didn't watch a ton of NFL games. What I did watch, the Eagles didn't go nearly as fast as what he did at Oregon. By his choice. Nothing to do with officials.

Sounds like he's tired of losing recruits that go to highschool in Auburn.

I don't see how that changes what I wrote one bit. One, he didn't lock himself in. Two, he can just say the experts spoke and he will honor their findings! Although I think we all know this isn't over. Just for now.

Well maybe but sure has been a lot written about how the NFL handled Kelly's fast paced reputation.

He could do that too but yeah he is going to catch hell because he has too many comments on record and he painted himself into a corner on this issue. He survives no matter what he just needs to keep quiet and let it die.

It doesn't have to do with hate for many of them it has to do with perseverance and survival. Saban has literally threaten their entire offensive scheme it's not hate when you fight back remember he threw the first punch.

You are seeing hate because that is how the criticisms are making you feel (hated) and you haven't taken the time to wear the other guys shoes. Reverse the situation and you would be all over Saban also.

Don't disagree but it works both ways. If your team was a pro style physical team with tough nosed defense like Auburn built it's reputation on you would be on the other side. Or keep it the same. If coaches for HUNH were saying the physical pounding of slow teams are a safety issue and should be looked at you would be backing Malzahn!

Concerning his comments he has continued to say he doesn't know and he is for what's best for college football. Doesn't sound like the corner to me.

Someone said it long time ago on these threads; you're basically on the side for whatever type offense your team is running!

I don't think I would. My dislike for the HUNHNS has pretty much nothing to do with Saban or Alabama. I've never attributed Alabama's losses to it, don't believe it's the reasons why Alabama has lost and don't think Alabama is going to lose games because of it in the future. It's just not football when your advantage isn't coming from schemes or out executing the other team.

For example, when Alabama lost to A&M in 2012, that was due to Johnny Football and the A&M defense stepping up. Last year Alabama losing to Auburn was due to the type of crazy option football you guys ran(and a little luck) and Oklahoma just plain out executed. In all 3 of those games, I doubt the HUNHNS would have mattered that much if at all.

Contrary to what many want to claim because it's convenient, and that is also why I think it's hate. Not because people have legitimate responses, but because they purposely ignore things that point in the other direction and refuse to acknowledge those things.

For example, I don't think it's just Saban hate when people talk about him being a nomad for leaving Miami etc. I do think every coach in the world would do the same thing, just like every male in the world would have claimed they didn't do anything with Monica Lewinsky, but it's not just "hate".

So Auburn and Texas A&M were not playing real football in your opinion?

In my mind Auburn had a great game plan and executed extremely well so scheme's and execution were a huge part of that win. It really doesn't matter if they won with an offense you did or did not approve of but make no mistake it is REAL FOOTBALL.
