Something happened in Arizona because Patrick petersonapologized for all of the confusion and he intends to remain a Cardinal forever. Amazing isn't it when you get your wish but it doesn't quite work out the way you planbned or hoped? Like maybe getting traded to Cleveland or better yet, Oakland for that first round pick they just got from the Cowboys. Peterson is not going going anywhere. Word last night was that the Cardinals started the Patriots interest rumors and when that happened more than six other teams called the Cardinals. One commentator said, "When anyone mentions the Patriots, involving any player, teams tend to call to find out what's going on, and often times will make an offer on the spot if they think they can derail a Patriot trade. That's why Bill Belichick trades are generally a big surprise, because no one knows until it's done."

One surprise name that has been mentioned twice. Once on TV and once on the radio. Shane Ray. He's in his last year of his Bronco contract and the Patriots desperately need a faster body to rush the passer. Elway doesn't plan to make an offer to Ray, who has disappointed many fans in Denver. This one and/or another Bronco Adam Gotsis a DE might be in play. Gotsis was mentioned in passing on the radio and the only thing I remember was something about him and a r*pe case where no charges were filed.

And there is still the ongoing rumors about Demaryus Thomas being available.

The Steelers were interested but they don't want to sacrafice any draft picks.

From all reports, the Patriots may have as many as 3 Compensatory 3rd Round picks this year for Solder, Butler and Lewis. One reortin Boston said that the Patriots were willing to give up third round pick and possibly Johnathan Jones, but that has pretty much been debunked. I can see the patriots giving the Caqrds Jones but not 3rd Round pick with him. Maybe Joines and a 5th. The Cardinals are not dealing from a point of strength

I'd hate to see Jonathan Jones go. He is currently playing well and is still improving. His speed back to the ball would be sorely missed. IMHO

According to NFL.com, ESPN and other outlets, the Patriots and Broncos are very close to completing a deal that will send Damaryus Thomas to the Patriots for a 2019 draft pick. There are no other details and just speculation that the pick is a conditional 5th.

That news is of 10:30 am 10/29/2018.

Damn...I would so rather see them shore up the defense.

From all rumors, no one is offering defensive players. They're way too valuable to let go at the trade deadline. Trades for them are much more profitable at drafttime.

Patriots Eyeing Trade For Collins
October 28th, 2018 at 9:40pm CST by Andrew Ortenberg
The Patriots are annually one of the most aggressive teams in the league when it comes to adding talent, as evidenced by their recent trade for Josh Gordon. With the trade deadline now just a couple of days away, New England is looking to make more moves. The team wants “to acquire some help in the defensive front seven by the deadline Tuesday”, and “they’ve had internal discussions about trading for linebacker Jamie Collins“, according to Jeff Howe of The Athletic.

The Patriots traded Collins to the Browns in 2016, and now apparently have some interest in bringing him back. It would be an unusual move with a player being traded twice between two teams, but the Browns would likely welcome the relief of getting out of Collins’ contract, and it sounds like the Patriots are interested. Collins signed a four-year $50MM deal with Cleveland in 2017, and hasn’t lived up to that deal so far. Whatever happens, it sounds like the Patriots’ defense will look a little different by this time next week.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports the Patriots will keep Josh Gordon off the field for roughly a quarter on Monday night due to tardiness.

Per RapSheet, Gordon will be benched for "several series -- about a quarter." He is expected to resume normal playing time thereafter. The Patriots likely have Gordon on a zero-tolerance policy, so he's lucky he wasn't outright released. Accountability has been a recurring issue throughout Gordon's career. Tom Brady has gone out of his way to take Gordon under his wing. The Athletic's Jeff Howe reported Gordon showed up late on Sunday before the team departed Gillette Stadium for Buffalo.

Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots may have another trick up their sleeve as the NFL Trade Deadline looms.

On Sunday, Fox Sports' Jay Glazer appeared on the Fox pregame show and reported that New England is surprisingly trying to acquire another premium wide receiver nearly a month after the Patriots traded for Josh Gordon.

"Here's a surprise for you also," Glazer said. "The New England Patriots, they are trying to go after a bonafide, premium wide receiver offering up high draft choices for that."

The Patriots are trying to move to 6-2 when they take on the Buffalo Bills on Monday Night Football!

This nugget from Glazer is a bit surprising when you consider that the Patriots just traded for Josh Gordon, had Julian Edelman come back from suspension and the emergence of Sony Michel in the backfield among the other weapon they have on offense. Not only that, but the Patriots' offense doesn't seem to be their biggest need as they near the deadline as they've scored at least 38 points in the last four games. Nevertheless, it appears like the team is looking around the market.

As for some names that have been rumored to be available, the Denver Broncos have Demaryius Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders that have been floated to being on the block, while DeSean Jackson has reportedly requested a trade from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Finally, there's also a report that the New York Giants have been receiving calls about potentially trade star receiver Odell Beckham Jr. He would seem to fit the profile of a "bonafide, premium wide receiver" that Glazer described, but it seems unlikely that New York would move Beckham after just inking him to a five-year $95 million deal earlier this year.

As for why they'd want to make this move, it could be more of a long play for New England rather than simply focusing on the 2018 squad. Julian Edelman is 32-years old and coming off a torn ACL and Chris Hogan is set to become a free agent at the end of this season. Not only that, but Rob Gronkowski could be the one that may be trying to replace if they are truly looking for a game-changing pass catcher. If the team is concerned about his injuries going forward and don't want to continue to restructure his contract, adding a bonafide star receiver could be a proactive move by the Patriots to subside the potential loss of Rob Gronkowski in the coming years.

The NFL Trade Deadline is set for Tuesday, Oct. 30 at 4:00 p.m. ET.

Don't know if Golden Tate qualifies as a "bonafide, premium wide receiver" but it's being reported that Detroit is looking to move him and I would assume Matty P and Belichick are on good terms with each other.

I guess Gordon's days are numbered?

This.
It has been increasingly obvious that Rob has lost a step.
Slower, less agile, can't jump as high.
His body has taken major abuse.
As much as I hate to say it, may be his last year.

I was really hoping the Pats would have made a move for OJ Howard out of Bama, but it did not pan out.

I also like the kid Boykin at ND although a WR I think the kid can be a star in the NFL

Watch the newswires guys...........the water started to boil about an hour ago.

You know that if you place eggs in boiling water and shut the heat and cover the pan, the eggs will be perfectly cooked in 16 minutes.

Word on the street or better yet, a rumor is out that a deal has been done. As soon as the sixteen minutes have passed, will someone out there remove the cover so we can check the egg????
