Richard Sherman Says Calling Someone a Thug Is the Same as Calling Someone the N-Word

Thug is not a racist word against black people. Seeing a dread-headed, loud, bragging black man and calling him a thug with no basis for your opinion is fairly racist. At a minimum it's stereotyping.

According to Sherman it is...the reason for this thread. I was being sarcastic about the PC agenda really.

Matthews has been called a thug because of sometimes he's guilty of what could be considered dirty play on the field. He's been called a thuggish player, Sherman's being called a thuggish person. Just because he talks loud? There's nothing thuggish about that.

Local sports talk said on Monday they they couldn't let the majority of callers on the air because of the racists statements they were making. It's just sad that a guy who only crime is being obnoxious gets this type of reaction.

Exactly!!! There is absolutely nothing thuggish about what Sherman did. So the only reason to call him a thug is because you equate thug with loud or angry black man. I just personally don't see any other reason to call him a thug.
