Everyone takes Sherman smack talk waaaaaay to serious, half the the time it's done for humor and the rest of the time it's his PR schtick. Lighten up and get a sense of humor for God Sakes.

He did make me laugh when I saw his interview on NFL network. He said Roddy Whites 1 catch against him in last years playoffs was probably a "Lifetime Achievement Award."

Something like that but it was funny.

I don't take him seriously at all. But you do have to admit he has a pretty big ego. Being a bit more humble wouldn't hurt. And to your point about marketing himself for $$$$..... I think he will do just fine in the wallet with his play alone.

As a fan of the Cards I will say it would be pretty satisfying to see Fitz get a couple of TD grabs against him on Thursday night.....Heck, dreaming is free.

All great players do and some that are not so great. You know Sherman still talks about how he got shafted in the the draft due to lack of PR. He decided to fix that. Having gone to practices and seen him with the fans and team mates I can say Sherman has got to be one of most fan friendly player I've ever seen and watching the Real Rob report and seeing him joke around with team mates who seem to enjoy the heck out of it. He's really just a good guy that loves to talk smack, but for the most part it all in good fun.

Peterson is the better athlete... how many CB's can throw for a 17 yard gain, catch a 12 yard pass and lock down Calvin Johnson (in the second half) while dominating the punt game?! LOL... crazy.

When it comes to being a natural corner though I'll admit Sherman is probably better right now but Peterson has a very high ceiling (not saying Sherman doesn't either) and he should definitely be in the conversation.

I think Sherman is pretty funny but he just needs to learn when to shut his mouth... sometimes he can take things too far. At least he backs up his talk though.

I've got nothing negative to say about Peterson, he's got a bright future as a lock down corner, but...I will say this...is it really wise to risk one of your most important defensive players ( and lock down corners are hard to come by) by playing him on special teams and offense? I know he's a heck of an athlete but it seems like a gamble or a roll of the dice to have him do all of that. I sure Peterson is all for it, but you got to protect your investment don't you?

One of the touchdowns wasn't even Petersons fault, and the rub screen is the cheapest play in the NFL. Patrick Peterson was playing offense, returning punts, and covering Calvin. When they got out of the zone in the 2nd half he shut him down.

PS its not that hard to shut down Boldin, in seattle with a qb who isn't a great thrower.

Sherman > Revis
Sherman > Finnegan
Sherman > Peterson

Is this thread really still going this strong?

Just because we are including people in the argument doesn't mean we automatically think that person is the best... (some of us at least) but I'm just throwing Peterson into the conversation and if you don't think he's worthy of that then gtfo. I never said he was the best. He could be though in a couple years if he continues to develop.

You could look at it that way, but I like the idea of not playing scared. Deon did it for many years and was fine. Revis never played multiple roles and popped an ACL. Point being, any player can get injured at any time. I like the fact that Ariens is not afraid to use his weapons.

I agree with this.

Yes, Harold, it's a risk to play him at other positions... but injuries can happen at any time or any position. Sometimes they are just freakish and come out of nowhere with no way to prevent them. Of course, him playing a few offensive drives and returning punts increases the chances of an injury happening, but you might as well use what you've got for as long as it lasts... and Peterson is a special athlete. Arians is just trying to take advantage of that and you could argue that the reward outweighs the risk.

I think if we ever see Peterson get shaken up or injured playing offense then I'm sure Arians will have to consider just leaving him a CB and CB only. Until then... ride the horse as far as he'll take you. Not too many people can do what he does. Just my :2cents:

So if you're admitting you don't think he's the best CB in the NFL why did you bring his name up in a thread titled Richard Sherman is the NFL's best cornerback?

Peterson is good, yes. Is he the best? No, because while he may be a very good player at many things, he's just not the top of the list at CB.

I brought up his name because I went through this thread and saw his name mentioned a couple times so I thought I'd chime in. I mean, why not?

It's not like I went way off topic or anything... not sure why you're upset over this?
