They aren't though. Not under any metric.
Buff does have a higher ranked offense - not by much, but they do.

They also have the leagues #1 SOS. Phil is at #27.

Record-wise - Phi goes on top - no issues, though. Like any list - always subjective to the person who is making the list.

Yeah, I just saw that. #5 is where Id put them, too. Losing Miller is huge
From what little I've seen - secondary hasn't been great, so pass-rush is a huge key for that defenses success - missing him will be a big blow.

100% Not only with his talent, but being a SB winner on 2 different teams, that leadership experience is huge.

Their secondary in theory is pretty good when healthy. But very specifically they beat KC earlier this year because Skyy Moore ran a bad route and Mahomes had a INT in the endzone but also Von Miller blew up multiple drives. I remember Von Miller being a factor against the Rams in week 1 when the Bills were turnover prone.

So in a way this knocks Buf back down to where they were last year roster wise. Still really scary but they'll need to hold on to the ball now

I never know if this is eye test or based on the work put in. No matter what I have to reward the Eagles.

1. Eagles
2. Cowboys
3. Bills
4. Bengals
5. Chiefs

The 49ers would be in my top 5 if they still had Jimmy G. With just 1 loss, i think it has to be Eagles at 1 right now. The Eagles and Cowboys both have a weak schedule , playing AFC South, NFC North. There is a reason the NFC East is all above .500. With that said though, you still have to win your games and both teams have. I rank Dallas 2nd because they went 4-1 with a backup against the toughest part of their schedule. Of that 5 game stretch , only one has a losing record and it was ironically the defending champs. I rank KC 5th because of their defense.

That's kinda how I look at it.

Anyone can nit pick swapping a spot here or there. ( splitting hairs so to speak)
I usually comment when I think there is a a team in the wrong place by more than a few spots.
His shit this week looks pretty decent.
We’ve seen it before — Any given Sunday, or Monday, or Thursday, or Friday or Saturday, etc…

Honestly, I dont care enough about power rankings to debate the top 5. The bigger question is how many of the 6-15 step up to challenge the top 5
Again, I think that’s a matchup thing. I think back to the Eagles Commanders game. The Eagles absolutely helped with 4 turnovers (3 if you don’t count the desperation turnover on last play of game that was essentially over) but they presented a great plan and exploited some matchups. Crazy but of all the elite WRs Slay fares well against, Terry McLaurin has his number. 3 yards a carry, Heineke to McLaurin on third down to move the sticks and next thing you know they possess the football for 40 minutes.

Those teams 6-15 have to be evaluated once you get into their matchup for a playoff game.

I mostly agree although football has really small sample sizes. Its difficult to say for sure what is a good and bad matchup

It’s tough to decipher for us but those things do exist.

One benefit of having rooted for an organization that sucked for the better part of a decade+: You learn to be a bit more pragmatic in these types of discussions....at least, I think so...LOL

Sure. The Chiefs (Spagnuolo) defense, for example, completely breaks down once you have 3 really good skill players just due to the lack of elite players on the Chiefs defense. If someone gets hurt in the secondary or linebacker then that number goes down to 2 skill players. But then you have someone like Davante Adams who can just catch a football in double coverage so sometimes even when the Chiefs throw numbers and have the advantage in the matchup the lack of elite players can still hurt them.

On the other side for the Chiefs, Orlando Brown seems to do well against Khalil Mack and some larger pass rushers. Against speed rushing, he is probably the worst LT in the league. Thats a real weakness that teams exploit. On the flip side, Mahomes is excellent against the blitz. Historically teams dont blitz him. They pick their spots this year but it seems to have more to do with how MVS matches up with the other teams secondary. In the Chiefs 3 losses and 2 tight games against the Chargers, MVS has 27 targets but only 9 catches. In the other games he has 31 targets and 24 catches. So he seems like a major variable and yet is that because he is new to the team or is MVS a matchup dependent receiver?

I'll feel better about the Bengals outlook if its a possibility Perine replaces Mixon as the shareholder of snaps when Mixon is active. Everyone knows Mixon is better, but it's December and what matters is who is hot in December. And tbh, Mixon has been inconsistent when he does play.

Bengals RBs last 6 games:

Mixon 54 carries, 258 yards (4.8), 5 TDs 3.06 yards after contact average 7 missed Tackles Forced 17 catches, 165 yards, 1 TD

Perine 57 carries, 252 yards (4.4), 1 TD 3.11 yards after contact average 8 missed tackles forced 20 catches, 157 yards, 3 TDs

There's an argument to be made that the Bengals are a better passing team with Perine in the game. I haven't seen any specific stats, but at the very least I imagine Burrow's probability of being sacked is lower with Perine in the game.

Perine is just more physical. I'll feel more relaxed if he was out there protecting Burrow. But we'll see how it shakes out.

2nd in games allowing 17 or fewer points? Man that's really getting specific to try and find stats to impress. How are they on Sunday nights in September during a hurricane with Bob Hope singing the national anthem?
