I truly didn’t know that and was just weird that all of these analytical guys want to make the excuse of they have made hitters shittier because pitchers are throwing harder when (according to the guy I can’t remember his name) is saying a 95 mph fastball in the 90’s is 99 now. Which is still fast but it’s not like everyone is Nolan Ryan which is what I have assumed and was brought up in the debate when the analytical guy asked the other guy what he would do now that they have guys that can throw an upper 90’s fastball and a mid 90’s slider…the reply was you shorten your swing when you faced Randy.I know they changed it a few years ago moving it from being taken at the plate to at the mound which upped the speed numbers.
This is where the Jerry nut huggers use dumb arguments. Of course we all would love for them to sign Soto this offseason but we aren’t asking for a $200 million dollar payroll, just freaking use it wisely. It’s the Mariners luck that they would pay more for Pollack and Garver over what Profar or Pham got.I am not a big Jim Bowden fan, but he made good point that I read and have said myself many times. The offensive fix isn't as hard as Dipoto makes it out to be. We aren't talking Judge and Ohtani trades needed just get some contact hitters that put the damn ball in play that maybe have speed and defensive quality to them. Cleveland did it. Royals did it. Orioles drafted well and did it. I think one legit bat is needed to protect Julio which may calm him down. Arozarena, if head is on straight, with Julio and that one additional legit bat gets us there while adding the contact type hitters mentioned above. Robles showed us and hopefully Jerry what speed and energy can do for this lineup.
yeah..Kepler..basicly.same..Free Agency (Ya we won't partake)
A lot of pending free agents are old. I don't see a lot of contact hitters available. A couple guys that would/could help but don't fit the contact criteria are:
2B - Torres .240, 12 HR, 50 RBI, 113Ks/471ABs
SS - Adames .253, 24 HR, 88 RBI, 144Ks/499ABs
SS - Kim .233, 11 HR, 47 RBI, 77Ks/403ABs
RF - Kepler .258, 8 HR, 42 RBI, 78Ks/360ABs
RF - Santander .234, 38 HR, 86 RBI, 106Ks/492ABs
Trading pitching for hitting then hitting for pitching never works unless you are a team that puts out stud prospects year after year which we don't do. Even with our great staff, we have only put out 4 top pitchers and 2 top hitters in Dipoto's tenure (his picks). That is not a great thing and trading one position for another over and over will never work.yeah..Kepler..basicly.same..
as raley..going.forward...
don't get me wrong..
I love..gorge kerby..
and Castillo...
but ..
can mariners .go.forward..
like.this..no....
they can't...
and now that they.have..
guys at .AA .
basicly.
Evans..
Garcia...
Mercedes..
it .is.time.to get...
a.3 and 4..for the..offence..
a 4..is the big one..
That's why I've been saying for years I want Portland to get a team and make the Mariners have to compete for the market. I would watch them if they tried to win.We need this on the air on a daily basis.
I think we need 1 or 2 power bats to go along with 2 more contact hitters.I am not a big Jim Bowden fan, but he made good point that I read and have said myself many times. Someone should frame this and hang it in the dugout.
That radio guy is 100% correct. We need this on the air on a daily basis.
you where..right...so..ok..That radio guy is 100% correct.
This also needs to be hammered each and everyday and more if they miss the playoffs. It's no secret Jerry and the FO listens to sports radio, all team GMs and FO's do. Plus these hosts should bring in some national sports figure heads to continue piling on how shitty ownership is.
Yes, but no power bats that bring something else will come here so bud with contact. They absolutely won't spend on power bats and will probably cut payroll anyways. Contact hitters are cheaper but if you get the ones that peaked three years ago then just don't bother starting the season.I think we need 1 or 2 power bats to go along with 2 more contact hitters.
Kirby has been struggling quite a bit lately. He has only gotten into the six inning one time out of his last six outings. And he only went six innings total in the outing. His ERA is 5.98 over the six games. Not sure what’s going on, but he’s been struggling. Tired arm? Who knows
