I can. Julio will be 24 after the season (Dec). I think the kid status has to be retired. Guys in the military are on their second enlistment at that age. He needs to grow up a bit and take the game more serious in my opinion. Easy go lucky only works if you are a winning team.

And ownership had to be in on the contract. Either they dictated it or they approved it. They looked at it like the Dodgers looked at the Ohtani deal. Not as a baseball contract, but as an investment in return with advertising, promotions and increase of organizational value. Everything that happens is calculated and with Stanton's approval.
Kinda seems like they gambled he was gonna be an absolute stud, which he could still end up being in time, but they locked him up because they knew he’d cost even more if he studs out down the road( AKA PayRod) … So it was probably a financial gamble hoping to have a stud long term… BUT if he busts … Ouch …

It was always about the marketing value. But why overpay?

Yes, but no power bats that bring something else will come here so bud with contact. They absolutely won't spend on power bats and will probably cut payroll anyways. Contact hitters are cheaper but if you get the ones that peaked three years ago then just don't bother starting the season.
Power bats do K a lot I get that but i'll take a .255 avg with 30+ HRs and over 100RBIs. Combine that with contact hitters, just not past there prime like you say than it can become a descent lineup. Also to you point, yes they won't spend for a power bat or 2.

Here's my take. For a team that blew a ten game lead, K's at a rate faster than the earth spins on its axis and a bullpen that shits the bed JRod needs to tone down the HR excitement. He can celebrate the HR but don't need to over do it considering this team is barely over .500. If Crawford has issues with JRod not being buddy buddy with Scotty, get the fuck over it. JP's .198 shit average is part of the reason he's gone. He proved me semi wrong when he played well but that's all 1 season out of several and what we see is still the same JP that the Phillies dumped.

Ms twitter is universally clueless. The stupidest ones have the most followers.

Boras clientele usually doesn't sign until fa, and that's 4 years away for cal. If he does accept an extension, the Ms will have to overpay significantly to get it done. I reckon it would be the only deal for any real money we'd see for the next 3 years at least because signing any decent fa hitter would also require double or triple from the Ms compared to good clubs, and they already have 12 million tied up in mallingeting garver next year along with the idiotic robles contract and of course julio. The pr driven Stanton freakazoid ownership group will find a way to shirt and bobblehead the fuck out of the dogshit they've invested in, and thanks to the mystique of dan and Edgar, it'll work.
