he was on the radio saying he likes the guys they have again.

I mean Lucas, Olu, Haynes... OKAY... but we don't have a guy at left guard... lmao.

That said:

Lucas if he's looking healthy is fine (they know better than we do) although you gotta draft someone as a backup for him or Cross.
Haynes played ZBS wide since he was a sperm. Zero reason he should not start in Kubiak's system.
Olu did OKAY last year. He was slightly above average. He isn't really a fit for zone blocking, but he can learn.
Cross is borderline elite. Pro bowl snub. He'll be expensive next offseason.

Frankly the OL free agency just wasn't that good. And Thuney clearly wanted to play in Chicago and was traded so what are ya gonna do? While Seattle should make moves to improve their OL... the moves just weren't that good this year. It all kind of said it when Fries got nearly $17M per, coming off an injury, with a handful of good games, and wasn't even medically examined. I get teams are DESPERATE for OL talent (not just Seattle, Minnys line was NOT that good last year after Darrisaw went out) but overpaying just for the sake of saying "We paid big for someone" is stupid FO management.

Schneider was smart to get an extra 2nd and 3rd, replace it with basically the same production for cheaper... and seek it in the draft. We have very little needs at EDGE now, can flex on WR a bit.. we need IOL/DL (nose tackle namely) basically.. and this draft is actually fairly deep at both.

I mean I'm hoping for Donovan Jackson in the early 2nd (trade down or trade back).. he'd be a perfect fit for Kubiak's system and could be an immediate starter at LG..

You're probably right @MrS .. we'll probably draft a safety than WR with our first two picks...

Yeah he went through the list and said something good about all the IOL (left out OLU though) and he was especially high on Bradford.

Drop a remark about how fans expect the Seahawks to reach for needs and he wasn't doing that. He's putting it all on the coaching to turn his turds into all pro's. I actually like a lot of what he's been doing except when it comes to OL. Moving players that want more then they are worth is good, getting younger at QB makes sense to me. @Sharkonabicycle is right that the free agency period really didn't have great solutions (although the Seahawks seemed asleep at the wheel on Thuney, who could of been the one single thing that could of been a fix for the OL). It's starting to look like JS is going to wait on OL in the draft again, but maybe he just doesn't want to give away his REAL intentions. The wait on the draft is going to be tough. 5 weeks until it is here.

I feel like we’re in trouble if we’re content with Olu

I would agree.... he's not a zone blocking center... but it's what we have to work with if we have to draft a left guard... we might just be stuck. Course if you have Haynes and someone like Jackson (two excellent zone blocking guards) maybe Olu can figure it out. :noidea:

At least he's a name to put to the position.

Who's the left guard, arguably the 2nd most position on the line?
Maybe the plan is to move one of Sundell, Haynes. Bradford or Laumea to LG and use the draft to add to the group.

No way Bradford or Haynes could play LG. They are way too slow. Maybe Laumea or Sundell but that is a lot of hope and prayers.

I had really hoped that Schneider had learned his lesson last year but clearly he did not. Still more "I know better than the league and can find diamonds in the rough" despite the fact that they haven't drafted a Pro Bowl OL since I think since Okung

Nwosu was an A+ restructure. Only $9M this year, and if we move on in 2026 (if he can't get healthy) he's only $8.5M dead cap which is not the end of the world. A post June cut spreads that over 2 years as well. $4.25M dead cap in 2026/27 is nothing. We're gonna have so much fuckin' cap in 2026 it's gonna be nuts... IF we keep Darnold, his hit is only $26M lol.
