Good on the Mariners for hiring the beloved duo of Dan Wilson and Edgar Martinez as manager and hitting coach. Perhaps that’s a sign they are re-embracing some old-school philosophy. Insiders say their previous overemphasis on analytics and insistence on loft is behind their startlingly atrocious offense (better than only the White Sox and Marlins).

That's not the sin though. Not putting him back on the same approach he came into the league with for more than a full season of this failed nonsense is just inexcusable.

Boone was on with Softy this afternoon and when it came up he said swinging top handed which makes him late on the fastball and ahead on the off speed pitches and bet Edgar was giving him the drills he used to use to stop doing that.

Either way, having the old school guys in to at least see if he sucks any less is something.

Oh I agree. I always thought he personally hitting coach was the problem. Maybe he is good, but hard to believe he was better than Edgar and it seemed like Julio went to him over Edgar. Now Edgar has his ear, but what took so long for the organization to step in?

Julio has always had weird spin on his balls. That probably explains why. Boone knows baseball.
