I think you misunderstood what I said. I said the Raiders at the trade deadline have not been big spenders. Now maybe some of that is they haven't been in contention so no reason to spend on a player when you are out of the season anyway. I would say though really only the Broncos and Patriots of recent history have consistently been aggressive during the trade deadline. Both teams have already made moves this year. Most teams though just don't like to give up draft picks during this time of the season. Belichick said that teams for some reason are really afraid to ever pull the trigger during this time which baffles him because great chance to improve your team for a Super Bowl run. Now that the Raiders are relevant we will have to see if they fall in line with the other 30 NFL teams or if they will join the Broncos and Patriots of being willing to be aggressive during this time of year.
Reggie values drafts pick to much to pull such a trade, i mean the dude is stingy with draft picks!!
But then again he might want to make a trade for such a player, as now would be the time to do it.. Again, im not counting on such a trade, but i wouldn't be shocked either at a trade.. It's pretty cool having a little hope that a trade for a player like that would happen..

Again cd im not saying we have the best defense in the AFCW at all.. Im saying they are playing better as a unit.. They are starting to gel as a defensive team cd.. I know that's weird to you, but that happens when you add a lot of new moving parts to a defense.. Some teams gel from the get go, others through out the seasons..

Great Ds can be beat cd.. Heck Cutler and the Bears just beat what most say is the BEST D in the league!!

Well first the Broncos are definitely the best defense in the league :suds: and if you remember right I told you from the get go the Raiders defense would stink coming out of the gate. You were the one during the off season that took offense to me saying that and that there was just too much talent on this defense to not be great. Well so far my thoughts have proven to be true.

Now listen I'm not calling them the worst defense in the league. I'm saying that right now they look like an average at best defense in the NFL. Let's say we do take out those 1st 2 games they are still only ranked 16th in the league in points per game given up. So again average at best defense. All I have said is they have struggled against good offenses which is true as the 3 games they have played against top-10 scoring offenses they have averaged giving up over 33 points a game. And then they have done decent against the lower tier offenses they have played like the Jaguars, Bucs, and Titans. The Broncos are 13th in scoring this season. I would expect them to put up about 24-27 points against the Raiders defense. The question is can the Raiders offense score that many against the Broncos defense? Hasn't happened yet this year but maybe this is the game. The Raiders have a great offense both running and passing so they could give this Broncos defense some trouble.

Im not the one saying the Vikes D is the best in the league, people on TV do.. And truth be told i really don't care who has the best D, i only care about this game Sunday, nothing else..

And you telling me about our D all offseason was like me telling you about Carr and the Offense all offseason..
Two can play that game cd, but i prefer not too.. I only worry about the now..

And yet again cd, the RAIDER D is starting to play better and living up to the offseason hype, but just not there yet.. Again the talent is there, they just needed more playing time together..

Ya know cd?? I got the RAIDERS 27-17 man.. Now could i be wrong?? Yup!! And it won't be the first or the last time either..

The RAIDERS are one of the best teams in getting TOs cd, and as you know?? TOs cost games, right??

Well not sure if you have looked but the Broncos have actually been the top takeaway team in the league with 16 so far this year. And they have been equally good at both causing fumbles and getting interceptions. So those TO's go both ways here. Now given the Raiders have been a better team at not giving the ball away so maybe that part of the equation is a wash. We take it away more often but you don't turn it over as often.

And if you guys score 27 points I will be down right impressed. The Broncos have only had 2 games where they have given up 27 or more points in the past 2 years combined. Both games were when our offense had a ton of turnovers that put our defense in terrible positions. So I would say you guys need to force 3 turnovers in this game to make that happen. Not saying that can't happen but this defense has been about as consistent as it comes in the NFL no matter who they are playing.

I would also add Carr hasn't exactly had his best games against the Broncos. He is 1-3 so far in his career and the offense has only averaged 14 points per game. Now given this is a different Raiders team than in years past but there are just some teams that have a player's number.

Of course cd.. You guys have a D that gets TOs, no they live off TOs!! But our D does as well.. Again this game will come down to QB play, run games and TOs..

Look cd.. I believe we have the better team man.. And why put up some weak score like 16- 13 type sheet?!
Im bold, so i go big!! I win big, i lose big!!
Now don't get me wrong you guys are the defending champs and i respect that dude.. I just believe the RAIDERS are the better team and will win.. Again. could i be wrong, of course!! And like i said, it wont be the first time or the last.. I can live with being wrong, can you??

Carr in his rookie year had no real shot at beating you guys, he just didn't have the team around him to compete with PM and his powerful team.. Carr's second year was a little better as the talent around him got better, we split.. This is Carr's 3rd year and we play our first game in prime time!! Both teams sitting at 6-2!! Dang!!

We don't live off turnovers. We get a lot of them but the Broncos have won defensively in games they haven't gotten any turnovers as well or games where we have lost the turnover battle. They are just a great all around defense that can beat teams many different ways. Now who is trying to sell a defense short?

And I get that you are a fan of the Raiders so of course you think more highly of your team than most. The stats don't back up that your team is the better team though. Point differential favors the Broncos big time, history favors the Broncos big time, your beloved PFF has the Broncos ranked 2nd this year only behind the Patriots, and I could keep going on of why this Broncos team right now looks like the better team. Doesn't mean they will win on Sunday and doesn't mean that the Broncos are heads and tails better than the Raiders as they are a better team than I gave them credit for before the season started. I just think you are jumping the gun a bit after beating some very bad opponents.

Carr actually did better his rookie year against the Broncos than his send year if we are looking statistically. The team only averaged 12.5 points per game this past season.

I think the RAIDERS have the better team, cuz we have the better QB!! And i really don't care what the stats have to say.. So please don't tell me im being a homer in thinking that..

I mean, do you think the football world revolves around the Broncos?? I got news for ya, it don't man..
We have a good young RAIDER team dude.. That IMO is better than the Broncos..

And as far as who is looking better?? Does it matter?? Both teams are 6-2 so they both have been getting it done.. You guys with Defense and us with Derek Carr.. Now if you want to break it down on who has the more dramatic wins, going for it on 4th down for game winning TDs, and just flat out WOW plays, well the RAIDERS!!
I mean, we had 23 flags for 2oo yards and went for it on 4 and 4 with 2 minutes left in OT and won the game with a TD!! Awesome!! The point here though is, we both 6-2 so both teams are getting it done!!

Btw?? In truth how many teams could win a game with 23 flags for 200 yards??

No it doesn't really matter who has looked better. Obviously any team can win on any given Sunday so it wouldn't shock me to see the Raiders win this one. That doesn't mean they are the better team though just means they have the better record. As for wow plays just because ours are not all coming at the end of the game doesn't mean the Broncos are not having some wow plays along the way. We have been the best 4th quarter team though in the league so when the team needs to score the Broncos have found ways to do it.

And while I will tip my hat to the Raiders winning on those 4th and 4 type plays you can't honestly think they can continue with that style of play and continue to win right? Eventually those last minute heroics catch up to a team.

As for the flags I've watched the game and most of those penalties were just stupid discipline issues by the Raiders. I mean they were not even subjective calls that you can argue such as false starts or too many men on the field or delay of game type things. Those are not subjective and the Raiders were doing those left and right. Again against a tougher opponent than the Bucs who are terrible this year the Raiders don't win that game. You cannot do that against the Broncos and expect to win.

Agreed, any team can win at anytime!! The better team don't always win, just ask the Vikings.. And as far as you not being shocked if we won, i feel the same dude.. It just means they a game up with another to play..

Derek Carr is a beast in the second half of games.. Heck in our win last year against you guys it was Derek Carr in the second half that beat you guys..

Yeah, sooner or later those end of the game plays get teams.. But so far so good man.. Now, do i want to blow teams out?? Of course!! But a wins a win, i will take them..

And i would say half or so of those flags were legit, the others not so much.. I mean you now have high profile coaches and players calling out the refs, so im on to something..

Again i ask you?? How many teams you think could win with 23 flags for 200 yards?? Do you think the Broncos could over come such flags??

Well I would say at least 10 teams if they were playing the Bucs. Also with most of those penalties only being 5 yards I'm not sure I would call them drive ending type penalties like that of a pass interference call that nets a team like 40 yards.

And yes the refs are being called out but I don't see Del Rio calling out the refs for this last game because well I think he saw what I saw in a very undisciplined team that did not communicate well that lead to a lot of stupid penalties. I've watched the game...

Let's just break these down real quick

#1--Taunting. Not hard to call that penalty as pretty obvious Crabtree did some after the play stuff
#2--Defensive holding on Amerson--He got beat on a double move and grabbed the WR to save a touchdown.
#3--Offensive Holding on Jackson--Grabbed the defenders arm as the runner was running by and held onto him. Pretty easy call
#4--Intentional grounding--Now I've seen them not call worse throws than this but the letter of the law no receiver in the area and just was throwing it away with pressure in his face. Didn't really change anything anyway because it was going to be 4th down.
#5--Offensive Holding on punt return--dragged the guy to the ground which really didn't need to as the ball carrier was nowhere near him. This one I personally would have just let go.
#6--Delay of game--pretty obvious
#7--Offensive pass interference--This one will be used by future teams to show what not to do as it was very obvious he shoved the guy to the ground who had every right to hold his ground.
#8--Unnecessary roughness--Winston was sliding feet first and Smith dove and made helmet to helmet contact. Didn't look like he hit him that hard but they will call that every time when you do that to a QB sliding feet first.
#9--Hands to the face--My guess is it happened as this is a pretty obvious penalty but wasn't sure what number the player was and wasn't going to go look for it as just doing a quick review
#10--Illegal formation--Pretty obvious that a man didn't line up on the LOS that should have. Only had 6 on the LOS when 7 is needed.

So I am 10 called penalties in and I would say only one I would say was a bit subjective.

You tripping dude if you think 10 teams could beat the Bucs with 23 flags for 200 yards..
The Bucs have a good young team that beat the team that beat both of us..
It took a HOF game from Carr to overcome that mess..

I gotta jet dude.. I'll be around

Oh, Congats to Carr for winning AFC O player of the week!! Keep up the good work Carr

You seem to have forgotten to congratulate the AFC Defensive player of the week in Bradley Roby!

And no I don't think I am tripping. That Tampa Bay team has been pretty bad here for a while. Yeah they got a nice win week 1 against the Falcons. Since then though other than a couple of wins against terrible teams like the 49ers they haven't really done anything. So yeah I think plenty of teams could overcome that many penalties depending on the penalties. Like I said the Raiders got a lot of the 5-yard type penalties. While they are annoying they don't destroy drives. If those were all pass interference type penalties then yes I don't think any team is winning with 23 of those types of penalties.

And like I said the Raiders when watching many of those penalties are not even subjective. I mean when you receiver runs right at the defender then shoves them back 5 yards to get open for a touchdown that isn't even close to being a subjective discussion. That is Offensive Pass Interference to the very definition. Or all the 12 men on the field...unless the officials can't count to 12 then all those penalties again are legit. I'm sure there were some subjective ones along the way but if you actually go back and watch that game objectively you can see the Raiders are just not a very disciplined team. I've watched every single game they have played this year to get ready for my article this week and that is one of their biggest weaknesses and it is going to cost them big time down the road. Can't be making those stupid mistakes against good teams. They will make you pay for giving them easy first downs when they could have been punting.
