I think this is pretty reasonable all things considered.

1 of those 6 years is actually this year and the salary for it. So it basically restructured this years salary into the contract, so in reality it is only really 5 additional years on top of this one.

Plus, if Phillips ages a bit and doesn't keep his athleticism later in the contract, he can always be moved to 3rd like someone suggested on my Reds message board while Hamilton/Cozart/Rodriguez/Gregorius moves to 2B/SS.

I don't know anyone supporting a family of 4 on $10 an hour. Nor should they even consider spending that money at a ballpark - and probably shouldn't be paying for cable to watch the games on tv for that matter.

But congrats. You can make a ridiculously obscure example that doesn't apply to 99% of people to try to prove your point.

You obviously don't have any idea. You still live at home? How old are you? Try getting a job that pays more than $10 an hour without college....hell, with college. It's damn near impossible.

I do not use Twitter, and I do not like Homer Bailey. He didn't get the name "homer" for no reason. I think Chapman should have been in the starting rotation coming out of spring training.

Plus, Flamingay, I don't always support the team, but I admit I don't always know the right move, as I am no expert, so I tend to agree with most of what the team does by default because I know no better on some of these guys. I can watch our games though and evaluate our guys decently. I think you are too negative on certain situations, and appropriately negative on other things. Not sure I ever see you post anything positive so I can't really comment on that.

But kudos to Cincygrad on the "Homer"ism burn, I guess no pun was intended.

At least entry level. My wife makes just over $11 an hour and that is after 10 years at the customer service at a bank that has been very profitable (home town bank). She processes loans, takes care of most the technical issues at her branch, IRA's, and much more. Her boss told her that she is teh reason that her branch is the best in the area. They would be in trouble without her, and they have given her raises well above andf beyond what everyone else gets, and she is up to 11/hr. after 10+ years at the bank.

It took my friend nearly 4 years to find a job, and even that job is at the college where the state is paying for him to go so he can get his degree. Part of that is the GI bill also. So even a vet can't find a decent job. He is hoping this degree helps him find a decent job.

The Reds aren't, nor should they market themselves to families of 4 that are living on a single income of $10 an hour. I never made such a claim either, so quit pulling shit out of your ass.

And so you know,
I began working in restaurants just before I turned 16 up until I was a sophomore in college and made right about $18 an hour on average. And this was 9 years ago (you can adjust for inflation if you like) at a LaRosa's..not even some place that nice.

You were a server. So was I. You make that $18 hr for 3-4 hours a night for 3-4 days a week TOPS.

You're the one who's talking out his ass.

I go to Roosters 3-4 times a week. Those girls have to work 2 jobs just to make it...and that place is the busiest place around.

No jackass. I am talking average. As in across the whole time I worked. There were hours where it was more, and hours less, but the ACERAGE was about 18 from the time I showed up up everyday to the time I went home. This isn't difficult to understand.

Regardless, your claim of a family of 4 living on $225 a week as to why attendance is low at Reds games is the most moronic argument I've seen made on SportsHoopla.

That being said, get your shit together Leake.

A family of 4 (normal ppl not Amish) can;t get out of there without dropping at absolute minimum $100....and that's a lot of money. If you make $10 an hour you bring home about $225-$250 a week. Try living on that with a family.

As expected, our hitting sucks..... Not going to do much this season when we can only manage 2 or 3 runs per game.

Clearly the Cards are much the better team right now, much as it pains me to say it.......and yes our hitting sucks.....Stubbs and Heisey are automatic outs....I HATE losing to the dirty birds......

Look, it's not just the family of 4 that struggles because they don't make enough money. My wife and I make decent money. Not great, but good enough. But Kramer is right. When you have kids, the experience at the ball park (a real one for them to enjoy and not "cheap" it) is WAY to expensive. Period. It's why you get more repeat business/fans from single people, or families without kids, or of course the families that make 3 or 4 times what the 'average' person makes and can afford it.

On to the offense, or lack there of...the Reds scored a lot of runs last year, but they were boom or bust. Seems to be (sort of) the trend thus far. I guess the good thing is, except for 2 games, the pitching has been good enough to keep them in it. No one, outside of Cozart and Bruce is hitting the ball well, or where they expect to be at the end of the year.

Hopefully just a slow start.
