You guys waiting for another loss before you post again?

Nah.... The winning is even more depressing. You get the sense that this team is going to perform right at an uninspiring .500 (maybe a few games below) for the season. Bad enough to inspire no confidence for the future, but good enough for the owners/management to stay the course.

They should just hire Marvin Lewis.

Apparently they can still dominate the Giants, as long as it's not the playoffs with three chances to close them out.

Lets hope the return of Votto doesn't ruin the current chemistry. I'm guessing it probably will.

Pena needs to play 3-4 times a week too. Where do you play him?

He's going to catch Cueto. IMO they need to find somewhere for Mesoraco on those nights. He could be a 40 homer guy if he stays healthy and finds another position he can be adequate at. Left field? How hard could it be? He could play three games a week in left field and Pena gets his playing time behind the plate. Both problems solved.

Edit: Ludwick and Heisey both suck.

Did you see Alonso? Meso and Alonso are build nearly the same, though Meso might be a bit faster...but he's no OF.

The fact of the matter is, as good as Pena has been, if you get Votto back, and he can get back to the .320 average he is usually around, he'll still upgrade the spot vacated by Pena. THat does suck, but it does help the bench...you can use him off the bench (which Price does, unlike Dusty) and keep Bernadina and Santiago as far away from the field as possible.

How did we end up with these two clowns anyway?

Funny how this team plays better when Joey sits.

Streak's over......ended with a whimper.

Pretty much exposes the major flaw with this team.... Very solid starting pitching (and there now even getting good bullpen play). But they can't overcome one 'hiccup' inning because the offense is so limited.

It's what we all said before the season -- We'll probably lose a lot of 3-2 or 3-1 type games.

Agreed. It doesn't help when guys you depend on sit there and never adjust to the strike zone, and take strike after strike and never take the bat off their shoulder (looking at you Jay Bruce) :L

Pitching was ok, you can't give up jacks to guys both hitting in the .120's if you are a legit pitcher...Cingrani lacks any secondary pitches for strikes, and ultimately, he wore down and grooved a couple of 89 MPH "Fastballs". Can't do that, but that being said...3 runs should be enough to win more games than you lose...

Hard to blame him for anything that happens after the 5th inning. He's still very young and doesn't have much experience taking his game into the later innings. I think he just lost focus..... Three runs hurts, but it shouldn't kill you.

Agreed about the 3 runs, but the problem of Cingrani not going deeper into games is his own fault. He's consistently in the 80's and 90's with his pitch count by the 4th and 5th innings. He can't locate any other pitcher but a fastball for consistent strikes, and that does fall onto his own shoulders.

He should get with Chapman and get down a change/slider. Moving him to the 'pen when Latos returns is a great opportunity for him to work on those pitches more consistently.

This.....pitching out of the pen his velocity will most likely be consistently mid 90's and he can be a great asset while he learns to be a pitcher in the pen. Of course this all depends on Latos......

Today's game is absolutely hilarious. Leake was off, which is understandable, considering how well he has pitched lately. What absolutely cracks me up is that they sent Santiago up to pinch hit for him. Replace your best hitting pitcher with an automatic out. Take Leake out, but if your option for a pinch hitter is Santiago, let Leake hit for chrissakes.

It's been over, pretty much from the start. The only thing we have left is the daily hilarity. Maybe Cueto can end up with a losing record with an ERA under 2.00
