Ray Rice's attorney didn't have to turn over shit to the NFL. None of this ever went to court either, so his attorney wouldn't have to say or deny they have absolutely anything.

What point are you trying to make? No one said his attorney have to turn over anything. We are saying that Goodell could've got it from him if he asked. And his attorney dont have to admit or deny if he has it, they knew he had it because he had it for discovery in the case.

Goodell had so much leverage over the attorney to get that tape if he asked.

"If you want your client to play, then give me the tape or i will make harsh decisions for hiding it from me"

ummmm, yes they did go to court. He entered a pre-trial diversion and still had to appear before the Judge and agree to the terms of the diversion.

they never had a trial, they hardly had a hearing that mattered. There was no discovery or any of that other stuff where sides are forced to give their information to the other.

So his attorney still didn't have to turn over anything to the NFL no matter how many times they asked.

yeah, that's how it would work LOL.

The point i'm making, you're an idiot if you think at any point it was in Rice's best interest to turn over any tapes they had to the NFL. They NFL could have asked all day everyday. They had ZERO obligation or motivation to give it to them.

The NFL could have gotten that tape from the casino just like TMZ did.

No, what I'm trying to say is if the asshole beat the crap out of you and you still married him you are beyond any reasonable doubt a full blown, card carrying, died in the wool idiot. Having singing talent and a great pair of legs doesn't exempt you from that rule.

It's a common fact that victims in domestic abuse though will usually defend the abuser. In this case the district attorney should be looking at a domestic abuse and mayhem charge which would be a more serious crime. What has happened is very typical -Over time Rice has groomed the woman to accept the abuse and take the blame for it. They are normally told that they got what they deserved and that it's their fault. In time if she stays with him, not only will it get worse, but he will eventually kill her because there is no doubt that he is a cold blooded killer waiting for his first victim to happen

That's the point, idiot. The NFL had leverage by demanding that tape from Rice and the attorney. If Rice was to hide the tape from Goodell, then Goodell could've blackmailed him with harsh penalties for not giving up evidence.

Its not hard to understand. This ppint has been made all day on here and the media.

Once again, no one said his attorney has to anything.

Don't ever become a lawyer, you wouldn't be a very good one

could they have though? The video was most likely leaked by someone looking to make some cash and TMZ probably paid a pretty good sum of money for that video. i'm sure there were stipulations that it wouldn't be given to anyone else other than law enforcement. Whoever risked getting that video to TMZ for cash wasn't going to risk giving it all back when all they had to do was be quiet.

Umm...I guess...if the NFL was willing to pay the person leaking it more money than TMZ did. I don't know...if I was leaking the video, I'm not sure I would have anything to do with the NFL considering I was breaking the law.

Also, from a legal standpoint, I'm not sure you can actually pay to obtain something like that. It's one of the reasons MLB was facing backlash about the most recent PED issue.

I don't know why people keep saying this. It's just not true. On what legal grounds could the NFL demand a private security tape? They can't.

Rice's attorney can demand it, via a subpoena, as it is part of his criminal case. The DA's office can demand it, via subpoena, as it is part of the prosecution evidence. But that's about it. The NFL has nothing to do with his criminal case.

1) The NFL is not defending, nor prosecuting the criminal case. Thus, they have no legal grounds to demand the tape.

2) The NFL is not involved in a civil suite against the Casino regarding this incident. Thus, they have no legal grounds to demand the tape.

3) The tape is security footage from a private company. Therefore, the NFL cannot demand the tape under any Open Records Request (not a government agency).

Now, the casino could chose to give them the tape - or chose not to. But those who think the NFL can just do a chest pump and demand its production are just wrong.

In a lot of other situations unfortunately you may be correct. However - unless Rice has a burning desire to spend a very long time in prison he will display relatively good behavior for a very long time. This will probably be very frustrating for him. He is going to be watched like a hawk almost everywhere. If his wife even has an accident and has a minor cut he is going to be questioned. He probably can't even argue with her in public at this pt.

I can agree with you in principle but when the 800 lb gorilla stands on your desk and pounds its chest the "football fucking monkeys" generally listen. You know....in the spirit of cooperation and all.
