Just like the Frasor trade, I feel - again, on paper - we did well.

We could have 2 of the 3 pitchers we've picked up ready to contribute in 2015.

I used to know how to do this. But now I can't get my picture to edit to save my life. I've got a picture saved on my desktop, but can't get it to post.

Somebody help me out please.

Some other reactions:

ESPN’s Keith Law understands the deal for both Detroit and Texas (Insider subscription required and recommended). While the Tigers paid a steep price, he notes that Soria will be worth about an extra win over the remainder of the season and will be featured in some very high-leverage postseason innings. From Texas’ standpoint, they get a raw but projectable 20-year-old in Thompson who needs to learn to get more plane on his fastball and develop a changeup to succeed as a starter, plus a controllable potential seventh- or eighth-inning reliever in Knebel.
Jim Callis of MLB.com “loves” the Rangers’ end of the deal, calling Thompson a potential No. 2 or 3 starter and noting that Knebel has closer upside.
R.J. Anderson and Jordan Gorosh break down the trade over at Baseball Prospectus (subscription required/recommended). Anderson notes the steep price Detroit paid as well and wonders if the Tigers are done adding relievers. If Dave Dombrowski is serious about truly upgrading the bullpen (which he clearly seems to be), the Tigers should look to add another arm, Anderson opines. Meanwhile, Gorosh feels that Thompson could make an appearance on the back end of B-Pro’s offseason Top 101 prospects list, writing that he has the potential to be a “very strong No. 4 starter” and could have been the best pitching prospect in Detroit’s system (thereby implying that he likes him better than Robbie Ray).

On Jake Thompson... "He'd slot into the Rangers' pitching depth chart behind Chi-Chi Gonzalez and Luke Jackson at this point."

I really hope at least 2 of those 3 guys figures it out, and hopefully all 3

Probably see LuJack at some point next year, ChiChi maybe, but more than likely the year after in any meaningful capacity and Thompson sometime after that

Looks to be about a 1-2 year development window for these guys

And even when they get the call its really not reasonable to expect too much from them on the MLB level for the first season or two while they get their feet wet. I guess the main hope at this point would be that not only would they pan out but also that they can avoid TJ for a while.

Probably only a matter of time before Rios is traded now. I sure hope we are not thinking of trading Beltre but I suppose that really depends on what direction they plan on going next season and what they can get. I guess he does have an option for 2016 though but will he be a DH by then? Will Peince or Choo be a DH at that point? Who knows, you would sure hope Choo wouldn't be though.

I honestly think it's not the fire sale some believe. Are we sellers? Most definitely. But we're not going to trade anyone IMO which we don't get back pieces which fit our needs or wants; especially for 2015.

Can Choo be as bad a player as he's shown over the past 5/6 weeks? I think not. So let's assume, he relaxes and gets off his own back, plus gets healed.

But Prince is the giant - literally and figuratively - piece to what we need for next season. And I'm clueless to how this surgery is going to effect his future in baseball, much less with us.

What's the guys name we got for Frasor? I read he may be major league ready sooner than later. And depending on what happens with Tepesch we may let someone else audition for the role. Not much of a gamble really.

And the reliever we got for Soria (I can't remember names for shit this morning) will be here soon.

Choo needs to go on a stretch for about a week where he jumps on the first pitch, might be the best pitch he's going to see and swing at every 2 strike pitch as well, those seem to have been really good pitches too

:agree:

It's Thurs and a noon game so I'm not expecting much of a turnout here for today's game.

Yankees have little power out of their 3 OFers (though gardner hit one last night) 3B, SS, 2B or C

That being said, Lewis will probably serve up a long ball to half of them today

I see you are using your reverse psychology today. Good thinking. The last time we thought Lewis was getting on track he had a meltdown.

Well, count me present, Donaldson. Where's DT? Bailing hay, I suppose.

Like to see JD go for some bats next. We sure need 'em.
