I'm sure they could improve on the breakout, but considering who they are missing, a small improvement at best. Surprisingly, Lovejoy has been pretty bad on the breakout, thought he'd be better than he is. Cole and Martin are the only two I trust, Chorney looks ok.

Lovejoy's always been decent at it, it's so odd to see him struggling so much. I know Scuderi is considered "playoff hockey," but I'd consider replacing him with Harrington to see if the extra mobility would help on the breakout. Scuderi's a good penalty killer, but we need offense, and he is not that.

It will also help if Pouliot and/or Ehrhoff ever get(s) healthy.

The Pens without offense just aren't the Pens.

The forecheck and cycle were also alright last night, but they didn't generate enough off of it. They couldn't get out of the cycle and into any sort of offense, and when they tried, the play got broken up and went back the other way.

I think more than just having good breakouts and starting faster (obviously), they really need to turn their possession into offense. It's great to wear down the defense for a while with possession, but if you can't get the puck to the net, it's kind of a waste.

They didn't even include the move obvious one, when Hornqvist was held up for a solid five seconds about 10 feet from the puck so the other defenseman could swoop in an pick it up!

Of course it was Kunitz who ruined that sequence for the Pens...

Few good chances on each end now I think still only one shot each way, though. Lots of blocks.

Can't say enough about Brandon Sutter's ability to step up in big games.

Didn't get to see the game due to cross country travel but love the results! Outstanding for sid to get the playoff monkey off his back, and what can you say about Sutter? Dude is nails at the end of the year...Now if Malkin can get rolling...
