I would watch and see if Cruz resigns with Baltimore or not. If he does they may have to trade for a another bat. Sure most all our FA money will go toward pitching. I cannot believe they will go into next year banking on a healthy Mitch Moreland.

They should've signed nelly last year and put Mitch as backup DH / 1B / OF kind of like Profar's role last year.

Your math is a bit fuzzy... There are 74 games remaining. (not 54)

Which would be 32-42. Or 70-92.

I'm pulling for 81-81. Which would mean 43-31 the rest of the way. Its not entirely out of the question....

I don't want to be .500. We won't be in the playoffs and we will lose our 1st round pick when we sign someone. I'd rather see what we have in the kids and take the lumps.

I originally had it at 32-42 and went back and looked at various differentials. My transposing was lousy. Thanks for catching that. I worry about myself sometimes. :L

Ending up at 500 to me will be really tough. Plus we may lose some players at the deadline.

@NewbergReport: Well this is interesting: @Vispoli: Joey Gallo will make his first professional start at first base tonight for @RidersBaseball.

I think that is a good idea. We may see him there in September.

Kinda worried about Perez as well. And that's another year away.

We may not see him next year but the good thing is a lot of pitchers gave come back strong and even stronger after Tommy John surgery.

I knew what his answer would be on that. I wish they would have asked him if Magadan was going to be employed much longer.
Glad you caught it

Must have missed it. Sure he defended Wash.

I am not a Wash supporter, but I don't know how this season could be his fault the roster has been made up of fill-ins since the start. Now many more than the beginning but even then the rotation was Yu, Perez and guys back from major injuries or guys that had performed poorly with other teams trying to prove they could come back and pitch effectively again.

I don't blame Wash for Hanson, Saunders, Rosales, JPA, Murphy and some of the others I probably forgot. They were let go from other clubs because they hadn't performed, were these the only options for JD, maybe considering the rash of injuries?
