Nightcrawler.........."It's not too bad.... I mean we haven't had one of those seasons in a long time."

What the hell are you talking about? We come into a season thinking we've got a legitimate chance to compete for a WS and we're now in 4th fucking place in our division, yet "it's not too bad."

Is that right? Have not heard this. Frankly, I'm completely taken aback. The scorer was completely within his limits to make this call one way or the other.

Oh well....no big deal. Just surprises me.

Wow that's lame... it's pretty clear that ball should have been caught. Maybe by the official scoring rules it is a hit, but if that is the case those rules should be changed. I mean that's a play that a mlb player should be able to make. Don't really care it takes away from the 1 hitter... Yu still pitched out of his mind that night. Just care because I think even Papi would agree it should have been caught and he got a hit based on a technicality.

It's not even a technicality. It's more of one of those time honored BS baseball traditions of "if it doesn't hit a glove we normally get a hit, rules be damned."

And I agree with completely, if the scorer can't make this ruling, then the rule should be changed. But as it stands right now, the score keeper was within his professional boundaries.

But like I said earlier, it isn't the biggest of deals.

Oakland seems to be some kind of super-awesome, regular season game winning machine. We all know they won't do anything in the playoffs with their style of play, but they seem to be on pace to win 100 games. Our only hope is for the injury bug to hit them, because teams play their best against us and seem to take them lightly. I can't remember the last time Oakland faced an ace pitcher. We seem to get one every series. Just my observation. We're doing ok, but this division is proving to be very unforgiving.

First of all, who is "you people?" Seriously......if you have something to say to someone, say it.

I like what you bring to this party, very much.....really do.

But let me equate something which was - will always be - a burr underneath my saddle: I hated having group meetings in the business world, and addressing "we" when it was never "we" at all. There was a specific individual, sometimes two, which needed addressing. But instead of nutting up, we'll just have a group meeting and waste time, and piss off the everyone who was never "we" to begin with.

But again.....I honestly like your post here. Don't always agree, which is half the fun.

Go Rangers

Ortiz and TX Rangers update:

Forgive me, but I don't understand MLB's decision on David Ortiz's batted ball that was changed from an error to a hit in Yu Darvish's near no-hitter Friday. Baseball has official scorers for a reason. And Steve Weller, who's been doing it for years, cited a rule in the rulebook (and called Elias Sports Bureau) before making his decision on the ball Ortiz hit with two outs in the seventh inning. The short fly to right field dropped between 2B Rougned Odor and RF Alex Rios after they clearly had communication issues.

[+] EnlargeRon Jenkins/Getty ImagesDavid Ortiz's pop fly that fell between Rougned Odor and Alex Rios, originally ruled an error, was changed to a hit Wednesday by Major League Baseball.

"In my judgment, when the ball goes up in the air, I felt like the second baseman or the right fielder, under normal effort, could've clearly caught the ball," Weller told a pool reporter Friday night. "I don't think there's a lot of argument about that. Under the rule, 10.12a1, it clearly states that a fly ball that lands, that's allowed to hit the ground, that in the judgment of the official scorer under normal effort could be caught -- you're to award an error on that play.

Reckun' he meant " you people who think'? Who is the key word. He knows too many on here don't think the season is over in May. I'll shut up. Was just a thought.
