I will take the hits over the walks any day. Aaron Zavala has 19 walks this year for Hickory, but he is only hitting .212. Trevor Hauver has 17 walks, but is only hitting .157. I will take what Taveras and Bubba are doing instead of what Zavala and Hauver are doing.

Woodward said that he would be playing Garver this season on days he doesn't catch, trying to keep one of the most productive bats in the lineup as the designated hitter.

Maybe Woodward should be playing Heim on days he doesn't catch.

Heim's home run, his third of the season and first since the birth of his daughter last week, added to his hot start. He has had only 33 at-bats, but he's batting .364. He has walked seven times and struck out only three times, which has fueled a .475 on-base percentage.

Woodward had been using Willie Calhoun at DH against right-handed pitchers and Brad Miller in left field. It's conceivable Woodward could play Reks in left and Miller at DH against righties, but Miller in left and Heim at DH might be worth a try.

If Bubba is swing and miss happy at the MILB level then it could get worse when promoted.
However I would rather see him up first.
He may end up being our 4th OF and late inning pinch runner. We have no one better speed wise on the squad

I'd like to say I think I was the only Heim supporter this offseason, his lack of strikeouts and hard contact seemed to indicate he might just need to tweak his swing a tad and so far it seems to be bearing fruit, the extra walks also seem to indicate he's seeing the ball a lot better this year

It is a tad bit shocking we added Kole Calhoun and Brad Miller considering the amount of guys we have on the cusp of joining the big squad. Then again, it’s just $.. if the player that replaces them is good and getting paid league minimum I guess it doesn’t matter too much..
