I think it is because he was torched last year in Minnesota with over a 5 ERA but then was traded at the end of the year to the Yankees and for the most part did better. What he has done since May 10 is better than I would have ever expected.

I was not happy with the 3 year contract after he pitched as poorly as he had the last couple seasons. 2 would have been more than I would have liked to see. I am certainly glad when I am wrong at times

I recall the 3 year contract being the main reason folks were unhappy.

But the length of the trade got the dollars down. I was optimistic after the way he pitched for the Yanks getting back up to speed

Jason Bahr had his AA debut tonight. He came close to a quality start. Not bad for his first outing.

Seems Odor is ok according to this game report:

Lynn (10 K's) sets tone for Texas' 6th straight W

@Nightcrawler your Roogie voodoo bobble head did not do the job.

I was mainly rooting for his playing time to be cut because he’s not very good.

It looks like the rangers new plan will do just that so I don’t have as much of a reason to dislike him. I can’t imagine why anyone would want to see odor out there playing 150 games per year. It’s comparable to watching someone being tortured.

Meathead Banny ran him out there everyday no questions asked. I’m so glad that he’s gone.

I am right there with you Murph. I also did not think Gallo could ever hit .250 and so far I am wrong on that and hope to stay wrong. And he is turning out to be a decent OFer.

They do have a ton of OFers basically a logjam so why not use a couple for a controllable SP?

Finding a team needing to trade for an OF and having that team have a surplus of pitching might be tough. Now, if you include pitching in the upper levels of their minor league system that they are willing to trade us and we think deserves a shot in the big leagues now, could be a possibility.

Jason Vargas may be available from the Mets. Anyone interested?

I always thought he wasn’t that good. I’m hoping the pitcher we acquire is a controllable asset and right handed. RHP’s should matchup better against The Astros and Angels. Their best players are almost all right handed.

Some people on here disputed it, but I’ve been saying it all along.

How bad was Brocail really?

He pretty much let other teams know that they were going to get pitched inside relentlessly. “Only idiots think they can hit pitches inside”..... ummmm about that. Opposing teams spent a season proving themselves idiots by hammering the shit out of Rangers pitching.

Our pitching staff was also by far the most predictable in the majors last year.

I’m a big fan of our hitting coach and pitching coach, but we tend to lose our good coaches for some reason. I’m hoping these guys don’t want to be managers someday. Losing Clint hurdle made our offense anemic for years.

He does have a cheap option for next year. He is currently out of favor with the Mets and they are looking to unload him. He is a NL pitcher. Seems like a typical JD interest.

Just assume go with Chavez, I would only get a bullpen piece, maybe 2, but then again I wouldn't be buying at all
