No More "Bullpen Failure"
You know, I hardly see any trade proposals including Saggese and I don't understand that. If I was a GM doing business with the Rangers, I would certainly ask about him.
Hmmm

Carter's other hit was a 10 foot sIngle. Power and speed.
Are they seeing something that everyone else is missingApparently there are multiple teams pursuing a trade for Lance Lynn. I just don't get that, not at all.

He’s given up 18 earned runs in his last 5 startsnot simply multiple teams... multiple teams leading their divisions and expected to make deep playoff runs (Dodgers and Rays)

That means we should be able to trade Perez or Heaney for a very good return, if we decided to. They should bring back a whole lot more than Lynn.not simply multiple teams... multiple teams leading their divisions and expected to make deep playoff runs (Dodgers and Rays)
I get it to an extent. People focus in on his 6.18 ERA and immediately say he’s awful. And clearly he hasn’t been great.Apparently there are multiple teams pursuing a trade for Lance Lynn. I just don't get that, not at all.
Aren’t we a contender? Contenders don’t trade away starters they trade for starters. That means we should be able to trade Perez or Heaney for a very good return, if we decided to. They should bring back a whole lot more than Lynn.
Good pointThey tout Lynn's great K rate and his ability to eat innings. If he goes 7 innings and gives up 5 or 6 runs while striking out 8, what good does that do you?
What I said was if teams were pursuing Lynn then we could trade those two if we wanted to. I didn't say that should be what we should be trying to do.Aren’t we a contender? Contenders don’t trade away starters they trade for starters.

His ERA and FIP say on average he would give up 3-4 runs in those 7 innings. That keeps you in the game and saves your bullpen for your other 4 starters. Not saying it’s great or that there aren’t better pitchers available. But there is some value to that. They tout Lynn's great K rate and his ability to eat innings. Well, if the Rangers decided to take that course of action, which is a whole other topic, I would feel better about a potential return knowing there was a market for Lynn. I certainly wouldn't get my hopes up until I see what Lynn actually brings back.I have no idea why the Dodgers or Rays would trade for Lance Lynn, but I do know that whatever price they pay doesn't guarantee that other teams would be willing to pay more for Perez or Heaney. Their value will be whatever other teams are willing to pay, and the Rangers can either accept or decline.

I understood what you were saying. The difficulty with going that route would be that we’d have to trade for 1 or 2 starters and then still have to find buyers who would interested in them and complete a trade by 5pm CST TuesdayWhat I said was if teams were pursuing Lynn then we could trade those two if we wanted to. If we replaced those two with better starting pitchers, I would have no problem trading them though. I am not looking to ship them off and leave empty spots in the rotation.
