Not a smart move IMO. Rental 39 year old who is only of value in the DH position. Giving up a top 5 prospect in our system. Cashner made out again for a rental. Unless of course some other prospects come back from the Yanks.

Beltran was playing pretty regularly in the outfield until they decided A Rod was completely worthless. You don't want to put him out there too many days in a row but he's a bit more than just a DH

Very low farmhands/semi-spares from what I'm hearing. It's primarily Tate-for-Beltran.

I don't hate it, don't love it, but honestly don't really know what to think yet. Just gonna wait and see what else plays out.

Swear to Christ if I see Leody's name.......

Not irrelevant to me when injuries happen to old guys a lot more frequently than they do with younger guys. There is a higher risk with him that he ends up hurt and misses a significant amount of the rental time. Im glad he's a rental because we really have enough of these DH types. Giving up Tate for a rental makes little sense to me

He's been healthy all year, the likelihood of him getting hurt isn't much greater than just about anyone else right now, if you're betting on that you're being overly pessimistic in that regard imo

Had no problem losing Olt. He was garbage, losing Eickhoff to have Harrison included in the trade was the stinger for me

I believe the price for Hamels/Diekman was Thompson, Alfaro, Williams, and Asher

Yeah, Thompson was the other one I wanted to see stick around. All that said I also really liked the Fielder trade at the time, but that isn't turning out so hot either. Only time will tell. If Beltran helps this team win a WS, everyone will love the trade.

Beltran is a clutch player for sure. Upgrade offensively and insurance. But to give up #4 pick shows how big a bust that pick was. Ouch

Beltran played in 109 games in 2014 and 133 games in 2015. So far this year 99 games (not bad for his age) however, August is usually the time the Yankees old timers go on the revolving DL.

Maybe the plan is to revolve Choo and Beltran on a 15 day on and off DL schedule. Yes sarcasm but there it is.

Not betting on it just saying there is more of a chance with an older player. Why in the world would I bet on a guy to getting hurt

Beltran is a good bat to add. I hate losing Tate, but you have to give to get.

FWIW, Tate is struggling in A ball and many seem to think his future is in the pen.

It’s worth noting, too, that Beltran has been nothing less than a monster in the postseason. Over his 223 plate appearances, he owns a robust .332/.441/.674 slash with 16 home runs. And Beltran is obviously a highly respected veteran who’d add to any clubhouse, increasing his appeal to teams with designs on a deep run.

And most of what Beltran has done this year has been with no one protecting him. I'm not sure why anyone pitched to the guy this year. A Rod and Tex have been beyond horrible. Mccann has been ok but he can't play everyday and has a low batting average. With a little protection in a hitter friendly park he should be excellent
