Has nothing to do with 'like' or 'dislike' ... or use of the term 'hate' either. Has to do with the numbers and contribution to wins.

Lots of people 'like' players for secondary subjective reasons but unless these players contribute effectively to winning no amount of 'liking' them warrants them holding a roster spot.

Not going to say why other posters oppose a particular player being in the lineup or on the roster ... but for me it is the numbers and their potential to creating wins. Has nothing to do with 'liking' or 'disliking'.

Hey there stranger.

Well it hasn't been 2 full seasons yet so no your point was false.

If he magically and suddenly turns this season around, I'll eat my words but I'll take last season and the season to date as an indication of his true talent level at this point as a 36 Y/O positionless and non-hitting "DH"

The numbers say so. Quit trying to make it personal. If you want to talk baseball then fine, but bring some facts and numbers instead of whiny posts that don't actually say anything at all.

not going to bother, you will go into one of your "he killed the team" tirades and i'm tired of hearing them just like i'm tired of your endless Murphy tirades.

and the season before he "racked" up a .774 OPS, the signs were apparent then, he just had other numbers like the 21 HRs and 91 RBIs to mask it

So OPS defines every aspect of a hitter? It's pretty convenient when you're going to just dismiss 21 Hrs and 91 RBIs. Too funny.

Like I said. The numbers back it up. I'm sorry you cannot handle that just because you like them. This is Major League Baseball. Not YMCA league.

All I said was he had a decent looking season on paper, but there were signs back then he was slipping, its just that a lot of people didn't notice it b/c he had the fantasy numbers to say otherwise

I didn't dismiss anything you moron

Nicely stated WMW. I'm sure most did like MY but that is not a good reason to keep any player on the roster.

I don't have any more emotional attachment than you do.

I don't have any emotional attachment at all. You're the one using emotional words like hate and saying unproductive players aren't hurting the team while ignoring the facts that tell you otherwise.

OPS isn't everything, but I trust it more than RBIs and HRs, as it shows quickly how much power and how often a hitter got on base, BOTH of which make a hitter

No he had a damn good 2011 season. He didn't hit power but he's never been a huge power hitter to begin with. It's funny because people want to blame the last season on MY and Josh quitting and while MY didn't have a typical season of his there are a list of reasons they lost that division last season.

I will agree he was not very good but there weren't many options on the bench that could help. The whole team went on a collective slump all season long except Belts and Andrus.

I... didn't... say... anything... about... 2011

I was talking about 2010, I've admitted he had a good rebound 2011, but things were becoming apparent in 2010

There are some guys who slump a lot and this year it's been Murphy. That said they aren't the sole reason this team is not hitting the ball. JD and clan haven't done the best job to take care of the offense other than a couple of bandaids like Berkman who should hang it up this weekend and AJP who ended being a good and somewhat surprising replacement for Nap.

Sorry its not just us, get over it Young is washed up and has been for a couple years now and to be fair he was never that good to begin with, too many people hold an emotional response to a player that here for so long

He was far from washed up in 2011
