The Rangers begin a 4 game set tonight in Houston. Texas is 18-20 and 5 games out of first, 2.5 games back of the Asterisks. My gut tells me the Rangers will come away with 1 win in this series. A split would be phenomenal.

I’ve asked this before I think, but Its hard to get a good answer.

do you guys remember the Jim Knox crap? Who was the fat black lady that he always interviewed in his post game pow wow sessions. Why was she important? why did he like her so much?

to my knowledge, she wasn’t a rangers employee. Just a regular fan.

That was Odor's mom.

Keith Law has moved catcher Henry Davis from Louisville to the top of his draft board.

It is not his mock draft, but who he believes is the best among draftable players.

hahahah….. I’m serious man. I want to know why that lady was important and always on knoxies post games,

Seems like it was just a fun gag he liked to do. Can't imagine anyone gave it much thought then and especially not now.

Matuella was once considered one of our best pitching prospects. That says a whole lot about the rest of our pitching prospects at the time.

Speaking of prospects, apparently Seattle is debuting one tonight. MLB.com is going apeshit over it. I've never heard of the kid.

He is the 4th best MLB prospect.

This is what Scott Lucas reported about the Frisco double header from yesterday.

AA: at Frisco 3, Corpus Christi (HOU) 1
AA: at Frisco 2, Corpus Christi (HOU) 1

Record: 6-2, +1 G

SP1 Jake Latz: 5 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 6 SO, 4.91 ERA
RP Noah Bremer: 2 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 4.50 ERA
SP2 Tyler Phillips: 5 IP, 2 H (1 HR), 1 R, 0 BB, 7 SO, 1.00 ERA
RP Scott Engler: 2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 4 SO, 0.00 ERA
LF/CF Bubba Thompson: 3-7, SB (1)
CF/LF J.P. Martinez: 1-4, 2 walks
SS/3B Ryan Dorow: 3-5, 2 doubles, walk
1B Diosbel Arias: 2-6, SB (1)

"Tyler Phillips appears to have tightened his delivery; the legs are the same but his arm path is shorter. I like the look. It's tough to see pitches out of his hand. His slider (which I don't recall being part of his early repertoire) has come a long way, which is important because his fastball is no more than average. That said, his fastball location was solid, an improvement on the past. Game 1 starter Jake Latz likewise located his low-90s fastball well."

"I saw one Bubba Thompson plate appearance. He swung through what appears to be a hittable fastball but then did well to make contact with a couple of tricky two-strike 11-5 curves, the second of which he dribbled toward third and beat out for an infield single. Thompson has a 37% strikeout rate but already has seven extra-base hits."

Latz had an ERA of 1.62 in 2019 while pitching at the single-A level.

I have always been a fan of Tyler Phillips. I am glad to see that he is continuing to put up good numbers. I look forward to seeing him up here at some point late in the season.

I have never been that much of a Leody Taveras fan. I think Bubba Thompson may be the first CF prospect up, if they have an OF injury later in the year.
