one thing about holland this season, is his fastball velocity is down a couple mph's. there have been a couple starts recently where it was the same as last season, but it's not really there today and before someone says "he touched 94 a couple times" remember that KC's gun is notoriously a fast one. maybe there is legitimacy to the season after a long post season run the starters struggle, aside from harry. lewis gone for the year and holland struggling could be a part of that

Holland's control ... and letting Cain get 1/3 of the way to 2d that made the double steal work. Napoli's throw was perfect and would have had him had he not had such a big jump.

So Holland is faulted for control and not keeping a runner close ... so he shares some blame with Murphy and Young.

It's going to take a little longer than you think for him to gain all his strength and arm speed back after that nasty virus.

Holland's velocity has looked fine, even outside of KC, since he came off the the DL, it looked bad before the DL but its back to where it was, its the command thats killing him

Holland's velocity has looked fine, even outside of KC, since he came off the the DL, it looked bad before the DL but its back to where it was, its the command thats killing him

his velocity is fine to a little above average for a lefty starter, but last year he ranked around 2nd in fastball velocity for a lefty starter (behind david price). thats what i was referring to with his velocity. now i could understand if holland wants to take a little off his fastball to improve his command, but his command is far worse this season coupled with less velocity. not a good combo

Wash is supposed to be a player's manager ... so wonder why he puts the interests of the other 39 guys on the 40man behind the interest of 1 guy who now has no future with TEX beyond 2013.

Most of his recent starts I've seen him around 94-95

And you can't look at his average this year bc thats out the water due to his loss of velocity when he lost that weight due to the virus

And he might not have even built himself all the way back up even

Last year the pitchers had more confidence because the offense was performing ... this year without confidence in the offense they are having more trouble with their control.

Most reliable SP since beginning of June has been Feldman simply because I think he really doesn't care about what the offense does and concentrates on his part of the game.

In order for that to happen you're going to take the decision out of Wash's hands or fire him.

Maybe PADMY could go on the 15day DL?
