Not sure if I believe that. Sounds more like Wash trying to cover his ass for putting kirkman in a high leverage situation.

Well Oswalt refusing to pitch would have been irrelevant to Kirkman coming in b/c Ross was in between them

My bad. Bringing that to light still seems like an attempt to divert attention away from his idiotic management by throwing Oswalt under the bus.

Just stick your head in the sand and ignore the sheer stupidity.

Do I agree with everything he's done? No, but we've been to 2 straight WS and are tied for the best record in the AL and a good part of the reason is his managerial style

And somehow Wash is seeing to it that Andrus recieves the blame for not getting a bunt down on the suicide sqeeze... did he see that pitch? Elvis made every effort possible...

Why would Wash need cover his ass? Kirkman threw two DP grounders that were booted.

Grrr... Olt probably feels terrible but he's only the last guy in the chain.

I still go back to Holland lack of control ... Young not fielding two balls ... Murphy getting turned around in LF ... Elvis running through the stop sign ... a blown squeeze that shouldn't have been called IMO ... Gonzalez boot ... and Olt's bad throw which even if it started a double play would have left Hosmer at 3d with 2 out.

On a positive note ... Olt is going to be special.

The biggest culprit in this game was once again Derek Holland who once again was less than mediocre. This kid has done nothing over the long haul to prove that he is a bona fide, every fifth day starting MLB pitcher.

Un-fucking-believable. Never mind his stupidity for calling for the play in the first place.

You answered your own question. Elvis is one of the better bunters on the team and has executed the squeeze more often than not and as a team the Rangers have pulled off the squeeze more often than not. It just didn't work this time. It happens. It's a great play when it's successful and subject to second guessing when it's not.

Its more of a "he doesnt trust who's hitting behind Elvis" thing... IMO. Didnt have faith in MY or Josh. So why not use the best bunter on the team to try the squeeze play. IMO, should have been a straight squeeze...not a suicide. But its w/e. Like the aggressive play... just didnt work this time. Its worked in the past and everyone was all "OMG...great play!" but now that it didnt... wash is stupid and needs to be fired. :L

That said, shouldnt have been in the situation in the first place. (Holland and his poor performance, Elvis a couple innings earlier - running through the stop sign and getting hurt -, etc)

Because wash is a moron that needs to be fired.

No, had it worked we'd be saying it was an unecessarily risky move in that situation and we got lucky. At those of us who aren't totally ignorant. Calling for a hit in run with a man on 1st is totally different than calling for a suicide squeeze with a man on 3rd and no outs. I'm sorry if you don't know the difference.

No, had it worked... everyone would have been thrilled the rangers were on top. (you cant deny most on here would have been happy). Also, way to ignore my other post where I said I didnt agree with it.

:blah:

Rangers won when they shouldnt have on Wednesday night.... they lost when they shouldnt have on Sunday night. :noidea:

I never said people wouldn't have been happy. Ron Washington could have Joe Nathan intentionally walk the bases loaded with 2 outs in the 9th in order to face Mike Trout. Nathan could then retire Trout to end the ball game. Would I be happy we won? Sure. Would I still say it was an incredibly stupid move on his part and that we got lucky? Yes. Same thing applies here. The outcome doesn't justify the logic behind the move. It was a very poor managerial call given the situation. Even with a good bunter at the plate, the higher percentage play for bringing that runner home with 0 outs and three guys due up who can put contact on the ball is letting them swing away.

This.

How someone can continue to ignore this logic is beyond me.
