the people who are still paying attention to the draft at this point (the later rounds) would still be doing so regardless of when it's happening. it doesn't appear to have hampered your interest, and I'm sure it hasn't hampered anyone else's.
They aren't getting the media coverage they could be getting at any other time. Not even the local media that I follow on Twitter are covering it. Baseball seems to shoot themselves in the foot quite often.

And it hampers the development of the pitchers to have it this late. At least it has with the Rangers. They are hesitant to ramp the pitchers back up with so little time to pitch once they get ramped up.

Saw a couple I mentioned earlier and 1 or 2 others I wouldn’t complain about if Rangers pursued them

From FSS

Jake Brown was a two-way standout in high school at Louisiana, but has seen the majority of his accomplishments come on the mound, including winning a gold medal as a member of Team USA.

FSS Event History: Brown has a lengthy history at FSS events as a member of Team Louisiana, but has also participated in several national and signature events, including last year’s Main Event, where he drew one of the prestigious starts at Fenway Park.

Current Ranking in Joe Doyle’s FSS Plus Top 600: 116

Joe Doyle on Brown:

Projection and strike-throwing ability here really stand out. Brown really came on strong late in the summer of 2022, impressing for Team USA. The slider is the bread and butter here with depth and sweeping action, a real bat-missing weapon against left-handed hitters. Brown hasn’t yet seen a velocity bump. He’ll usually sit 89-91 over extended outings, touching 93 at his best. He projects a crafty southpaw who commands the baseball well and has the ability to manipulate shape. If scouts see a velo pop in the near future, he could sneak into the early parts of day two.

19th rounder, Elijah Ickes, was the 2023 Gatorade Player of the Year from Hawaii.

The University of Hawaii commit from Wahiawa, HI, which is located north and inland from Honolulu, was named the Gatorade Hawaii Player of the Year for this past spring with Kamehameha Schools Kapalama High School. The Kamehameha Warriors infielder batted .448, stole 26 bases and scored 36 runs to anchor Kamehameha’s run to the state championship. Ickes went 3-for-3 and scored the game-winning run in a 4-3 state final win over Baldwin.

.

The University of Hawaii Rainbow Warriors are excited to have him at Les Murakami Stadium come fall, where he can develop into a true pro prospect after three years of NCAA baseball.

.

Through 17 games for the NightOwls this season, he’s batting .293 with four doubles and 12 runs driven in, stealing four bases. On defence, he has sparkled with just two errors in 117 innings playing shortstop — and he makes all the tough plays.

.

Ickes was also named the 2023 Interscholastic League of Honolulu Player of the Year — “The award, which recognizes not only outstanding athletic excellence, but also high standards of academic achievement and exemplary character demonstrated on and off the field, distinguishes Ickes as Hawaii’s best high school baseball player,” said a release in early June. Ickes ranks among the state’s top five prospects by PerfectGame, and he maintained a 3.54 GPA — all while volunteering at local food drives and finding time to umpire youth baseball games.

.

This is as well-rounded a person — not just a player — as you will see on the diamond, and scouts are giving him strong consideration for the upcoming draft.

We shall see. The Rangers don't really have slot money to waste if someone doesn't sign.

Ranked 215 by Prospects Live

From Prospects Live:

Palmer is a big-bodied athlete on the bump that has gotten up to 94 MPH with a fastball that features solid life and he has electric arm speed. He's got a low-80s slider that is his primary strikeout pitch and stays short to the plate. He's an Oregon State recruit, so he may need overslot money to sign away from the commitment, but there's a ton to love with the athletic nature and solid stuff of his profile. - Tyler Jennings

From FSS:

It's becoming increasingly difficult to poach recruits away from Oregon State University, and that'll be the task in convincing the 6-foot-6-inch Palmer to forego Corvallis and sign a pro contract. Palmer saw a meteoric rise in stuff this spring with a fastball that jumped to 94 at its peak, resting 90-93 in just about every start. Palmer's big body and athleticism is quite evident, pounding the zone and wiping away the opposition with a low-80s slider. Palmer gets a ton of scap load and projects to throw quite a bit harder as he gets into pro development, and the slider should sharpen out too. There's some low-hanging fruit to unlock more velocity here, and scouts rave about his makeup off the field.

The Rangers have a choice at who they can throw over-slot money at, it seems.
