Rays get Civale.

They give up their #4 prospect, a 1B. Like Acuna, he is graded 55 overall by MLB Pipeline.

Good pickup for the Rays. They lost some key pitchers for the season as well. I would think this is good for Civale as well since the Rays normally do a great job with their pitchers.

Would really like to get him. Under control through 2026 but then again I want Verlander as well. Let's just start a whole new rotation. LOL!
saddles got me worried when he mentioned Eovaldi maybe needing TJ surgery. Nothing indicating that right now but they went this route with deGrom before announcing his surgery so I’m looking ahead to 2024

well, he's already had two, he had a noticeable velo dip, and he's on the IL with a forearm strain.

I'm not saying he does need TJ, but those last two pretty much go hand in hand with TJ

one significant factor this trade deadline is that 20 teams are above .500 right now. very rare to have 2/3 of MLB with winning records.

Would very much like that trade
You look at his record of 1-5 and an ERA of almost 3 and you might have some reservations about him but in his last 8 games he has not given up a run. Before that he has a bad 3 game stretch but in the previous 13 games before those 3 games he did not give up a run. Plus he is not a FA until 2027. I would like this as well. Just noticed his salary is very reasonable as well, 2,9 this year then 4.9 and 6.4 million in 2026.

I look at his numbers and think what an improvement over who we currently have

Doesn’t seem there is much in the way of offensive help available and I think they’ve done what they’re gonna do for this deadline. The additions and Eovaldi will stay in the lineup if healthy so the bullpen help will likely be Heaney and Perez and Stratton. May be best to stand pat there. The moves have been good so far, just don’t think they have time or other teams players available left to make the rest of the needed upgrades and they probably already know that at this point

Another reliever is traded without going to the Rangers.

There’s not any worth spending prospects. Bochy is going to have to kick some ass and get better production out of what we’ve got. Maybe cut a couple of them and bring up a couple of big bats from AAA

Maybe Crim and Martinez
