He also said he would not spend as much as last year. That tells me they are either not going after TORPs in free agency, and if they do go after TORPs, a trade will be involved for at least one of them.

I took that as a lighthearted comment about not spending half a billion in free agency a second year in a row.

It would be pretty crippling for an ownsr in a major market to say. -not expecting much spending this off-season but he did kind of.
We won’t get two more players of Marcus and Seager value this off season at least not via free agency

I was just trying to use the comment to help build some boundaries for how they may operate this offseason. I am not sure from his demeanor if "The Rat" was being lighthearted or not.

Well at least in Semien's case, maybe cost more than value. Lol

Not spending as much as last off-season seems like a given. But it could still be feasible that they sign, say, Perez to a 4/70 deal and Rodón to a 5/125 deal and signed a mid-tier bat.
I also like the idea of trading some prospects for a front of the rotation pitcher with at least a few years of control.

I think some trading is going to happen this off-season

He said middle of the lineup bat though.

This is the kind of direction I thought they might go in when I suggested Rocker might not come up here to stay before mid-2026.

Unless they move Lowe it sounds like and OF or maybe DH
I think they will either trade Lowe or move him to DH. Actually, I like 3 or 4 of our prospects at DH more than Lowe.

I’m assuming LF or 1B/DH for the middle of the order bat.
