Managers with no pen can never be considered a bullpen genius. Saw Bochy agonizing wheher to pull Sborz. But yeah Perez is the fuy that should piggyback Heaney

Agree on Perez piggybacking Heaney. In fact I did not think we would see Perez in this game and now that we do it was completely absurd to not have him and the next man in and pitch deep because he has been an Astros killer in the past. So him being in there now makes no sense.

Evan's idea is to piggyback Eovaldi with Heaney. This is from his article:

For starting pitchers, a rehab assignment isn’t just a health check, but also a way to build up stamina. If Eovaldi returned without a rehab, he’d likely be on a limited pitch count of 40-45 pitches to start — the equivalent of about two or three innings.

It might lead the Rangers to piggyback the right-handed Eovaldi and left-handed Andrew Heaney. That could provide an edge by forcing opponents to either turn their lineup over earlier than they’d like. It could also allow Heaney to be more refined, shelving his inconsistent changeup to focus on the fastball-slider combo for one or two trips through the order. Heaney has had an issue with short outings this year, going less than five innings on six occasions, including his last two outings.

I would Start him Friday at Frisco or Round Rock which ever one is home and have him go 3 or 4. Normal rest and then stretch him out for as long as he can go. Normal rest with his normal throwing route on the 3rd day and if everything checks out good maybe start him 1 time before the end of the season. Or not and shut him downfield to

Don't risk another TJ for him which sidelines him all of next year. This team is terrible. Nobody can save this season. ITS OVER. Focus everything on 2024. Everything.

Semien and Garcia have let this team down for long periods of time this season. Besides Seager we don't have much by way of consistency. Some are worse than others.
