Rangers back home for some W's against the M's - 5/7-5/9

The Rangers return home riding a 3 game winning streak, and winners of 7 out of the past 10 games. They are currently 4th in the West, but only 3 games out of first. Obviously, the priority this year is evaluation and development, but the team is playing competitive baseball and they are far from the bottom of the AL as most "experts" predicted. My concern is that ownership will direct the front office to pursue "buying" options at the deadline if the team continues to hover this close in the standings.

Doubt very much that ownership will make a big splash at the deadline unless they get a deal they just can’t pass up...

I'm just hoping they don't drink the kool-aid I see a lot of fans starting to and think this team is just a piece or two away from being a legit postseason team.

That is the only scary thing about winning too much now. I have a feeling that we will settle in somewhere below the level we have been playing at and above the level we played at previously. Maybe a couple of wildcard teams will separate from us enough by July, so that there is no temptation to short circuit the rebuilding plan.

That is the only scary thing about winning too much now. I have a feeling that we will settle in somewhere below the level we have been playing at and above the level we played at previously. League-wide, there are several teams below their expectations (Dodgers, Yankees, Astros for example) and others above (A's, Giants, etc.). Between that, the two WC spots, and the impending free agents, I think this might be one of the wildest trade deadlines in a good while. I don't want the Rangers to be buyers, but I'm also worried they'll get screwed out of being sellers as well.
