They would, no doubt, have to piggyback someone with Scherzer.

If they add Scherzer and Bradford to the ALDS roster they would have to drop 2 from the ALWC roster from an already questionable bullpen of Anderson, Burke, Bush, Chapman, Heaney, Leclerc, Perez, Sborz, Smith & Stratton

If they do not add those guys, then Perez and Heaney would most likely be earmarked for Game 4. So you would have 2 guys reserved for that game either way.

As far as who they remove from the pen that would most likely be an easy choice. It would be the two guys added last, Bush and Anderson.

Of course that leaves game 4 against Baltimore on Wednesday (if necessary) open here. I guess, like someone said we could go with Heaney/Perez and try and get maybe 4 innings from each

If Scherzer comes back, I doubt they can afford to slot him into postseason games like he is our best pitcher. For one thing, he is going to be a little rusty. More importantly, his innings are going to be very limited his first 2 or 3 starts. At least the first two starts will be basically bullpen games. That probably warrants him being treated like our 4th best starter.

We don’t have the space to name him #1 or #4 or anything in-between. If he’s available it will based on when. If we get to the ALCS it will be due to using Dunning, Montgomery, Eovaldi and probably Heaney/Perez in games 1-4 of the ALDS against Baltimore

Right. Sometimes your #4 guy has to pitch Game 1 of a series. I just meant if he can come back, he would probably be pitching after some other guys if they were able to pitch. If they add him to the roster for the ALDS then he most likely starts Game 4. If they don't add him until the next series then he most likely is slotted in whenever none of the other 3 can pitch, due to them pitching too recently.

If we make it to the ALCS we would be set up for Dunning and Eovaldi to start the first two games and Montgomery could start Game 3, if the ALDS goes 5 games. So, if they wanted to minimize Scherzer's starts, due to them being bullpen games, he could pitch Game 4 in either or both series.

Only thing I can think of is maybe Bochy would feel more comfortable at home instead of pitching game 1 on the road in a playoff atmosphere. Regardless do not pitch Monty on short rest.
