Bears expected to land Texans Safety, Quintin Demps.

Would be a HUGE step up from what they currently have.

Age is definitely a concern, and I still think we should draft a safety. We will see what the detailed terms of the contract are, but right now it seems like about 4 mil a year.

Strongest years for safeties in the past decade, maybe more, with 3 or 4 going in the first round, possibly 2 or 3 going in the top 10, must be pointing at not picking one. I saw a few mocks with Lattimore the CB, so maybe its him or first QB off the board at 3.

We could still easily take one, if we land Demps. Our front seven is nearly set, especially if we draft Allen.

I could see us loading up on talent in the secondary in FA and the draft.

We also have Amos, who is good and will certainly start at FS.

He started the season looking like a heat-seeking missile, but seemed to struggle and fall out of favor late in the season.

Well, that'll happen to a FS when the entire starting front seven is on the sidelines in street clothes. Amos also battled and played through his own injuries. He's a stud. We all know he's starting, regardless. So we might as well just accept that there's really only one starting opening amongst our safeties.

Bummer.

He has not been ruled out for the season yet that I've seen. Depending on what bone he broke (along with the severity), it could be just a 6-8 week recovery.

Either way, it's the latest in a series of blows that just seem to never end. A team captain, and a damn good safety.

Although, our suddenly good looking CB depth chart (Amakumara, Cooper and Fuller), along with the good play of our front seven vs PIT. I think it's a blow we can absorb. I haven't given up on Amos yet either, so let's see if he can step up and regain form.

On the bright side of the injury issue. Sitton and Grassu are practicing. I'm sure Sitton wanted to make sure he was healthy to take on his former team. It seems he still has a bone to pick with them for casting him off just prior to the season last year.
