I believe it was Hammer yesterday that brought up a statement that said the Dodgers would have to pay for Ethier's salary if he left, does anyone think that for the money the new owners have paid already, they won't bite on that bullet? Especially if another starting pitcher or 3rd baseball is also in the discussion.:confused2:

If the Dodgers believe they can win the division this season, they need to be on the phone to Josh Byrnes asking what it would take to complete an Ethier-for-Headley trade. If they don't believe they can win the division (very doubtful they think this so early) then they should try to get out from under Ethier and Crawford's salaries as cheaply as possible and maybe even get a little something in return.

The most likely scenario to me (not surprisingly) is Ethier gets traded to a contender for the best offer and if they can get a really good return for Crawford, they might look at that after missing the playoffs is a foregone conclusion. Colletti's job depends on winning now so I say the second that playoff hopes are dead they tell him to go home, then be prepared to hire their own man who aligns with their vision of youth and strong farm system.

However it works out, there will be at least one major trade from the Dodgers before the deadline, don't you think? And maybe even a blockbuster?

I agree Hammer, the new owners are not going to be happy faltering in their first year. Ethier is as good as gone and probably Crawford also. I don't know if it is a blockbuster but are these guys doing anything less then that so far? Coletti has to win, Donnie Baseball has to win and anything less the rug is pulled.

Could this guy turn the whole team around and light a fire under them?

Truly incredible! Vin Scully has always handled himself with class. It's Puig time baby in La La Land! What a great move signing and finding this guy. Hat's off to Ned Colleti!

He will struggle from time to time, everyone does in baseball. With the baseline of 3 out of 10 is a success, he might just be OK at what the outside looks like. Right now Puig is riding a wave and the Dodgers must get on the board to get back in the division race. It is a fun first 4 days.

I think the "second curtain call" is a non-issue. I hope this kid takes curtain calls every night. The Dodgers have a lot more to worry about than Puig taking a second curtain call.

If the crowd is jazzed and wants him out, it is his responsibility to come up the steps. The fans are pumped, let them go nuts, they haven't had much to cheer about lately. It is a good thing.

No one said it's an "issue" for the team. The fact is the kid wasn't thinking and came out for an unheralded second curtain call and his teammates let him know that wasn't cool. I doubt anyone's even thought about it since 10 minutes after it happened.

But that's now what happened in this case. No one's saying the fans shouldn't cheer but he needs to show some class and restrain himself from the quick curtain calls after the cheering is dying down. Like I said, I'm sure Mattingly and/or some guy like Juan Uribe or even Lasorda nicely told him to knock that shit off. When he did it, the dugout literally instantly got as far from him as was physically possible and he knew he messed up as he was coming back down the steps.

The more I look at Puig, the less I think he looks 22. More like 26.

Hammer I simi agree with the curtain calls but you can't blame the kid for responding to the fans. Yea it is a little beyond the natural but still unless he had ever being in that position, how would he know? Now you thought that his fellow players got with him and told him to knock it off, probably not as he came out again after the grand slam. Now he has been told though as after he hit the solo against the Braves to tie it, he was heading to the steps and Hanley Ramirez grabbed him and took him to the bench. That might be the first time someone actually told him.

Well, Puig has delivered in 4 of his 5 games. The only game where he was a non factor was when Kershaw pitched. He'll fit in perfect with this club!
