It wasn't that bad. Turnovers in the first half were bad, but we went into the half 16-3, so the defense didn't play bad. It only got ugly when the depth came in.

It sounds like one of those (preseason) games where play calling is for play evaluation rather than making the correct call for the circumstances?????

There were a lot of those. Turnovers were bad, but it was correctable. I think Belichick wanted stomped for motivational purposes.

Rob was a good NFL fan over at ESPN.
Of course it's easy to do that when your team sucks!
Peace.

Dude, never once been a member at ESPN other than playing some FF.

After the 4 turnovers is was 16-3. The scoreboard was all the second half with a lot of the people who aren't going to make the roster in.

This game wasn't played to win on our end; it was on detroit's. No need to be too concerned; the turnovers were the inexperience we knew would come, and while it will cost us a game or two throughout the year, there is a reasonable chance it is handled by the playoffs. We'll be there, and that's when it matters. They don't need to be perfect just yet.

You can make all the silly ass excuses you want. bottom line is 4 tunrovers 40-9 is not something to say " Hey it wasn't that bad ". You think BB or Brady or Mayo are saying that shit? It was that bad and people need to stop making lame ass excuses for it. I am all for saying " Hey it's done we got our asses handed to us, but it's time to move forward" But to contunually make excuses is IMO just asinine.

Of course they aren't. They're using it as motivation.

That doesn't mean you need to overreact. The scoreboard at halftime is what counts. There were very few people who matter in for the second half, beyond Mallett and a receiver or two in and out.

God Damn it just gets dumber and dumber. Who threw the INT? Who Fumbled? And really the score at half time is the one that counts? Really!!!!!!!

So when starters go down where just fucked, in other words we got 22 guys that can win and the rest are just cannon fodder. Stop it was that bad depth wins seasons, depth gets you to and throgh the playoffs. And no on is over correcting not sure where the hell you got that idea, but again it was a drudging and one that shouldn't be dismissed as mehhh it wasn't on the first team. It is after a team sport.

The depth that actually plays, including most of the people who make the field in the case of an injury, were off the field at halftime. It wasn't 22 players in in the first half, it was probably closer to 35-40.

I didn't say it was a great showing.

But most of the team that played the second half doesn't make the roster.

not impressed with the NE o-line, Brady is going to be in trouble if that doesn't get fixed and the turnovers last night was just dreadful but i expect BB to correct that.

It was the third preseason game. Tune up and all that. The Lions have more guys competing for jobs so they were more jacked up. Plus they laid an egg last week vs Cleveland.

As a Lions fan I am happy the way the D-Line played. They will help compensate for young guys in the secondary.

I am pissed they keep with the dumb ass personal fouls. Lack of discipline.

If I was a Pats fan I would be concerned with the O-line. The Lions D Line is good but the lack of run game is a real problem. Plus they still need help at TE, until at least Gronk gets back.

Yes still preseason but I will take it as a Lions fan you take the highs when they come and don't bitch.

I am not worried at all about the O Line. Typically Brady releases at 2 or 2.5 seconds from snap. That shouldn't change and if we can continue to run that means teams will use bigger slower guys to stop the run. I think the O Line will be fine. Secondary is once again a concern. BB needs to stop with all this silly " Well he can play four positions " cool but he sucks at all of them at this level. Get some pure safeties would be a nice start, not every damn position needs to hybrid.

games are won and lost in the trenches, i don't' care how fast Brady use to get the ball out, the fact remains that this preseason he hasn't been getting it out as fast. I think it's mostly do to the chemistry being off with the WR group.

Their first team offense dominated two teams and had trouble against a third. I'll be concerned if it happens in the regular season, or if they take a major injury, but not before then.

I would agree with you most of the time but with a new receiving corp and losing his hot reads in Gronk and Hernandez it may add some to his time in the pocket. Brady makes a lot of guys look good I think this team will be a little more of a work in progress than the last few.

Is their concerned Amendola does not have Welker's speed?

Everything I have heard was that Amendola is faster. Although combine speed doesn't tell us too much about speed now, the numbers I just googled put Welker at 4.65 and Amendola at 4.55, which would match with most of what I have read regarding speed of both.

My Bad I always thought Welker had 4.4 speed.
