12-team, H2H scoring, 10-player keeper league. I am about to be 8-1 with a pretty solid squad. Here is my lineup:

C-Sal Perez
1B-Goldschmidt
2B-Kipnis
3B-Zimmerman
SS-Castro
OF-Trout
OF-Harper
OF-Domonic Brown
Util-Trumbo(OF/1B)
Bench-Nick Franklin, Reddick(just grabbed off waivers while Harper is on DL)

SP's-Harvey, Corbin, Gio, Ryu, Zimmerman, Cahill, Medlen, Gausman, Vargas, Chatwood, McCarthy(DL), and a couple others that I stream in and out per matchups/Sunday starts.
RP-Soriano, Parnell, Jim Johnson

My buddy is basically building a team for the future as his record is 1-7, bout to be 1-8. He has a ton of huge prospects/minor leaguers that haven't even sniffed the majors yet. But he does have some nice quality players. He was pissed that i got Trout with the 2nd pick then was able to grab Harper at the bottom of the 2nd round(he missed the first 4 rounds of draft as he really wanted Harper).

He has been trying to pry him from me all year and he has finally made some interesting offers. Nothing is concrete but he's basically offering Kershaw and another player for Harper. I feel like I could ask for either Justin Upton or Jay Bruce along with Kershaw and he'd do it(he really loves Harper as much as I do). However, I really have a love for Harper as he is gonna be a star for a long long time, and he and Trout manning my OF slots just is a tremendous advantage.

But is this deal something too good to pass up? Or is my team just fine the way it is? I like making trades and moving guys, but if it ain't broke, why try to fix it eh? I'm on the fence so some thoughts would be appreciated.

We all love Harper in a keeper.
But if you took Upton (or Bruce) and Kershaw from me, I wouldn't be your friend anymore.

Trout and Harper in a keeper is amazing. Thing is though, it is really easy to find OF options in a league with 3 OF starters. I would do the deal and take Kershaw and Upton. Don't settle for Bruce here.

Your team will be better off for the next 5 years with Kershaw and JUp. By the time those two aren't studs anymore, you could have won 3 or 4 titles. Your starters are good, but with Kershaw will be awesome.

Yup, you have to do that. It would be nearly 50-50 for me with Kershaw straight up... add in another OF and you're laughing. Sure Trout and Harper are a nice duo to have in a keeper league, but some guy named Clayton isn't too bad of a keeper either.

I wouldn't do it. Make him pay if he wants the second best keeper in MLB.

I'd feel guilt, taking advantage of your friend, but he offered so i'd accept.

Bruce is overrated in H2H points leagues due to his extreme streakiness. He will win you 5-6 match-ups almost single handedly, but when he is off, he gives you nothing. I am not a believer.

Kershaw is the deal, so this is still close, but I would have a hard time letting Harper go without getting 2 elite players in return. Bruce is an average OF in your format.

I wouldn't say he's average. He has scored 2,400 points each of the last two years in my league. Trout had 3100 last year and the next level OF's(besides Braun) scored around 2700. He's far from top 5, but he's a great young hitter that hits for power and rbi's.

As it is, I pulled the trigger. I am basically getting arguably the best pitcher in MLB which just adds to my good staff. And I'm getting a darn good OF as well.

I appreciate all the thoughts fellas. It was a tough offer to accept, but in the end I still have Trout to lead my OF's.

You accepted before I saw this. I have to allow it.

Pitchers will break your heart.

Having Trout and Harper in a keeper league is priceless.

Aces rarely do. And I still have Harper in another keeper league so I can enjoy that. :)

GL. I am telling you though, as a former Bruce owner, his total points don't tell the entire story. He can be very frustrating to own.

Brandon Webb, Ubaldo Jiminez, Tim Lincecum, and Mark Prior all say hi.....

:D

I think you are ok, but pitchers (even aces) can definitely break your heart.....
