Just as has been speculated and rumored, Gasol's rights have been traded to the Grizzlies, along with a 2024 second rounder and cash so that the Lakers can now pursue an Ennis. The original rumors had the Lakers trading Gasol's rights to go after a Parker but Ennis is now the focus. Gasol is essentially now retired as he'll remain in Spain with his family. Jordon has signed so now the rotation will be Jordon, Howard and an occasional AD at the 5. The Lakers also get the rights to Wang Zhelin.

Wang Zhelin is a Chinese basketball player for the Fujian Sturgeons in the Chinese Basketball Association. He was drafted in Round 2 in the 2016 NBA Draft by the Memphis Grizzlies. Wang is considered one of the most promising Chinese players.

Born: January 20, 1994 (age 27 years), Fuzhou, China
Height: 7′ 0″
Weight: 260 lbs

Not too shabby as they now have a developmental Center or so it appears.

He was the Chinese leagues MVP in 2019.

The Lakers got themselves another potential future player who may see some action this season. Another good move by Pelinka who is light years away from the last couple of knucklehead GM's including mouthy Magic.

Well after further review and this article from LakeShowLife, it looks as though Zhelin ain't coming to the Lakers anytime soon. It appears the trading of Gasol was just a nice present for Marc to send him off into retirement or so it seems. I don't know if giving away a 2024 2nd rounder was useful but apparently that was a motivator to help Memphis buy-out Gasol. That and some Jeannie Buss cash will get anyone going, I suppose. If Zhelin ever decides to come to the Lakers, they have his draft rights. Other than that, their isn't much to this deal other than what has been stated.

Yeah, didn't expect to see him this coming season. But it looks like he may not come at all since he can make a lot more money in China.

Having said that, the NBA is seen as the pinnacle of basketball throughout the world. So, maybe he's one of those guys that wants to see what he can do at the highest level?

I don't know what's allowable under NBA rules and Chinese Basketball Association rules, but it would be interesting to see if the Lakers brought him over to play in the summer league to get an up close look at him or if he'd agree to it if they did.

Yea that would be interesting TJF12 but I doubt it will happen especially because the US-China relations are not real good and a lot of talk of a potential war especially involving Taiwan. Zhelin will probably stay in China for a number of reasons.

This is yet another Lakers rumor from LakeShowLife. I thought the Lakers were basically finished adding players after the Ennis move sort of died. Guess not.

Nice mix of youngsters and older vets. I like the distribution. Also four developmental players at the bottom waiting to move onto the active roster. Pelinka has the Lakers STACKED! Don't know where they would put Faried though.

Pretty sure Ayayi, Cacock and McClung (or at least 2 of the 3) will be 2 way guys.

Yep, that is correct TJF12. Marketing at the Lakers has their faces shaded-out for that reason I suppose.

Ayayi and Reaves are their two way contracts this year. I can't imagine McClung sticking. He's fun, but overmatched. Cacock is just a guy ultimately.

But in all seriousness, I was a big fan of this guy in last years draft

He’s a big wing with good defensive metrics and can shoot the 3.

A fun guy to try to carve out a role after the old guard leaves

He was one of their better players in Summer League, nice to see him get a camp invite.
