I don't blame any RB sitting out a meaningless game even if he's a projected late rounder. If he blows out his knee he'd go undrafted. Playing one game isn't going to help his status at all.
Actually in his case, I'd beg to differ. Florida still has a decent defense. Given how lackluster his last game as, he could've used one last big showing. I understand the risk and all, but in his case, it definitely could've helped.

He could go out and run for 200 yards, but if he runs a 4.6 it won't mean anything. Not saying he'll run that, just an example of the combine meaning more to him than this last game does.

Oh of course, the combine is definitely more important. However, if I see a kid fighting to even be drafted and he sits out a game against a decent team that could help him out, I'm probably moving on from him to someone else.

Word on the skreet is that Tua is skipping the Orange Bowl so he's fresh for the NCG against Clemson.

I wonder how many NFL GMs truly care about that.

For one, if money is the primary motivation of these players who are sitting out, that's one thing NFL teams can provide.

I guess it wouldn't affect me as much. Having 4 years of tape to evaluate means more to me than what he would do in a game nobody really cares about being in. I think either way at this point another game won't mean much.

Maybe not, you're probably right. I still don't think it's a good look when he doesn't have anywhere to go but up.

If guys sit out, then coaches should get a bowl game pass win or lose. If Florida hammers UM, I don't want to hear any bitching from the UM fan base. Can't have it both ways.

For some reason, you can add Karan Higdon to that list. Really trying hard to preserve that 5th round slot, I guess?

Michigan RB Karan Higdon to skip Peach Bowl

They have him projected in the 3-5th round.
He is already committed to playing in the Senior Bowl, so don’t blame him for skipping a meaningless bowl game.

I’d expect more and more players to do the same, as even the NY6 bowls are meaningless with the CFP now.

UM is going to have a skeleton team on the field. Gary and Devin Bush are sitting out on defense so far. Now Higdon on offense.

I don't blame some for sitting out a bowl game, but in Higdon's case I think it is a mistake. A good Peach Bowl and Higdon can move up quite a few spots.

He has the senior bowl and combine to impress NFL teams. The bowl game isn’t going to change anything.

He ran for almost 5 yards a carry and over 70 yards against OSU. It isn’t like UM was in position to feed him the ball all game when we trailed almost the entire game and trailed by a lot in the 2nd half.

Ask Jake Butt if playing a meaningless bowl game was worth it or Jaylen Smith (his injury cost him upwards of 15-20 million)

If you get drafted in the 5th-7th rounds in the NFL — nothing but the signing bonus is guaranteed in your contract and the signing bonus isn’t much at all.

So getting ready for the spandex olympics at the combine is a good move for any player who is on the cusp of the guaranteed money. If you can shave even a half a tenth off your 40, it could move you up a round. If you run for 200 against Florida and then run a 4.7 at the combine — it isn’t helping you.

Grier
Cajuste and now Gary Jennings

Oh and our best hoops player sat out a game because his brother told him to. FML!

Yeah he should've played in the bowl game. He has to be by far the worst prospect sitting out.
