It’s going to continue. Playoffs have cheapened the value of the bowl experience. Not to mention there are around 40 bowls. I would guess around 80% P5 teams make a bowl.

Look in recent times where a meaningless bowl game cost players MILLIONS: Jaylon Smith(he's having an incredible year though so he's gonna get PAID soon) and Jake Butt

Would be nice, though. Especially if the Day rumors turned it to be true (I'd guess he would have full control of the offense).

He said he'll announce his intentions after the Rose Bowl. I can't imagine why he wouldn't go this year. He has a legit shot of being the top QB off the boards. He's already being mocked in the top 15 of boards I'm seeing. Not many knocks on the kid.

CB Justin Layne for MSU has decided not to play. CB Josiah Scott could play, but will burn a redshirt by doing so.

If this were the Rose Bowl, they'd play. For the Red Tube Box bowl, I'm fine with them sitting out.

At some point, they have to consider the interest of their future. A meaningless bowl game isn't worth losing potential millions.

In today's bowl saturated world, most teams just want a bowl game for the extra practices.
