It was TONS better, for sure. But there was a pretty big Interference call not made. Probably doesn't make a difference, but I obviously would have liked to see it called. And Bob took a stick to the face.

Not gonna say anything negative about the ones that were made. Wiz and Comeau have to play smarter there. Wiz can complain that they were both "sold" but he still took two steps to hit a guy from behind and got his stick up on the other. Stupid with a capital upid.

I complain a lot about 'em, but I sincerely don't expect perfection. And you're right. The Pens bought a few, just part of the lovely "gamesmenship" that happens these days. I was more surprised that the high stick didn't get called, even if Johnson's stick aided Neal's ascent.

I am honestly pretty curious to see what the Jackets do tonight. This is a team that plays every night like they have nothing to lose, and tonight they truly don't. In front of a crowd that pretty well adores them and they are a group that really likes each other and have to think that this could be their last game together at least totally. Nikitin, Schulz, McIlhenny, MacKenzie and Comeau are almost sure to be gone. There are rumblings of Boll and Skille being given their walking papers too.

It could be a pretty special night.

Time to treat the Blue Jackets like the Hawks treated the other "blue" team yesterday!

Go Pens!

Umberger won't play for CBJ tonight. Apparent shoulder injury.

Yeah, you could see it. Looked like he dislocated it.

Haven't heard who is in. Hopefully Tropp.

NHL.com - Blue Jackets plan to crowd, distract Fleury in Game 6 - Penguins vs Blue Jackets - 2014 SCP First Round

“We need to start taking liberties on Fleury,” Columbus defenseman Jack Johnson said. “That’s the only other way to counter it. You have to be careful to stay out of the box, but it’s also the responsibility of the referees to call some penalties if there are some.”

“We’ve got to make it tough on Fleury,” he said. “That doesn’t mean running him over and taking penalties. It’s going hard and making sure it’s a difficult night for him, a difficult night for their defensemen going back and chasing pucks all night.

Jack Johnson is apparently oblivious to how CLB has been scoring most of their goals.

Apparently it's Boll. Presumably to run Fluery.

Fuck. It is Boll.

Congrats on your series win, Pittsburgh.

Nikitin is out too, Schultz in. That's an upgrade, IMO.

Not sure what the hell JJ is talking about unless he is trying to get the Pens to back up a little to protect Fleury more, opening up space. They've been in Fleury's face all series. I wouldn't classify it as "taking liberties" but they have been in front of him. Either that or to make the refs keep a closer eye (nice jab "if they see a penalty"). If they start running him, that will disappoint me tremendously. Both goalies, save for a few instances, have been treated with respect. I do hope Fleury has recovered from the vicious snow shower, though. Those things have been known to end careers.

The only bonus to bringing Boll in is when he does make a stupid play and commit a very untimely penalty, the Penguin won't have to "sell" it. It will count.

But that is not what the Jackets need. More shots. More aggressive forecheck. Feed off the crowd. The shit that has worked so far.

Yeah, it's a strange comment. Agreed, outside of a few instances this whole series have been very civil.

Enjoy it while it lasts, since the team that moves on will be facing the Rangers/Flyers next.

I didn't watch the game, but did you see that they called a snow shower penalty on the Avs apparently?

pix, they called it on dreamy Gabe Landeskog. At least he got his money's worth (he got Kuemper good).

The reason that I've enjoyed this series as much as I have is because it has been clean. It's amazing how entertaining clean postseason hockey is...haven't seen it in awhile.
