Painful Lessons On A Big Stage | BlueJackets Xtra

I like Todd Richards, He must be a very calming influence in that room.

Oh, and this:
The Penguins have had 17 power plays, more than any team in these Stanley Cup playoffs. They've scored on three of them -- twice in Game 1 -- but even when the Blue Jackets have killed the penalties, it has disjointed their desire to roll four lines and establish a consistent flow of forechecking.

"We put them on the power play four straight times when we had a 2-0 lead," Blue Jackets defenseman James Wisniewski said. "Not good."

And chill out, Wiz. Technically the Blue Jackets only put them on one.

:yahoo:
So the only legit penalty against CBJ has been the delay of game penalty last game? You feel the goalie interference (that was part of the 4 Wiz was referring to) call wasn't legit?

Bottom line is, the Pens 4 best goal scorers have yet to score a goal. CBJ has 2 SH goals and was 20mins away (with a 2 goal lead) from going up 2-1 in the series, but it's all the refs fault that CBJ is down 2-1 in the series.

It's hard to win a game and keep your stamina when you have over 3x the amount of hits (65) than you have SOG (20...5 in the 3rd period)

SOG get wins....looking to register the most hits possible does not.

GO PENS!!!

Perfect example:

"It was 2000-01, Mario Lemieux’s comeback year. Big-checking defenseman Darius Kasparaitis had just registered 11 hits in one game, and was quite pleased. “Look, 11 hits for No. 11,” he kept saying as he clutched the stat sheet. Kasparaitis sat on a couch in the locker room, smiling broadly.

Suddenly, a tall figure loomed: No. 66.

“Eleven hits, huh?” Lemieux said, smiling.

“Yeah, yeah, 11 hits for No. 11,” Kasparaitis replied.

“There’s a puck out there, too, you know,” Lemieux said.

Kasparaitis stuttered: “W-w-what?”

“There’s a puck out there, too,” Lemieux repeated. “You should trying having it once in a while.”

Message delivered

There was a happy ending for Kasparaitis: He scored in overtime to win Game 7 against Buffalo in the second round of that season’s playoffs.

You need a puck to do that."

No, I don't think it was. If you watch the long shot, Jenner turned to his left and appeared to be looking to peel off towards the faceoff dot. He got pushed (interfered with, whatever) and forced towards Fleury. When He realized it was too late he tried to jump to miss him and didn't go high enough. He could have ended Fleury's series right then and there and made every attempt not to.

And yes, I would love to see more SOG. But teams killing a bunch of consecutive bullshit penalties typically don't get those. Kind of my point. Thanks for making it. :suds:

At least you acknowledge something about the Penguins happened before 2006.

Goc skating is a big deal going forward. I look forward to his return to the lineup, especially if it means the end of Adams (though I'm sure it won't.)

I wonder what you would have said if he was a defenseman. :noidea: :D

Don Cherry says game 4 is the most important game of a 7 game series...

Contact was made, regardless if he tried to get out of the way, therefore that's interference.

Consecutive bullshit? Delay of game was the 2nd call of the 1st period. Interference was the 4th at the beginning of the 2nd.

CBJ with 15 SOG in the 1st two periods (killing 6 penalties)......only 5 SOG in the 3rd with each team taking a 2min minor. Using your logic, shouldn't CBJ had more shots in the 3rd than the 1st and 2nd combined?

Even if I didn't acknowledge something before 2006, it's a hell of a lot better than being "that guy" who blames the refs for their underdog teams shortcomings.

You know, I looked at that post and thought to myself, "If I were writing this for publication, someone might comment on how I used the same word twice so close together, but this is an internet message board, so I should be safe."

I should have known better. Even the specific word drew an extra joke.

But my writing is indefensible here...
