Lunch time here in Tucson. I'll enjoy some food and baseball, I think. :)

That's a nice sign. The curve was working in that at bat.

Depending on the score, Morton just needs to get the top of their lineup 1 more time, for number 3 through the lineup I would have Wilson/Watson waiting for em.

Solid first for Morton. Ironically, the only hit allowed was by the only righty he faced in the inning.

I think part of the problem was that it seemed that the pitch trax was shifted to the left. Balls that were clearly off to the right of the plate according to the graphic where consistently called strikes, while some that caught the left side of the strike zone graphic were called balls. The ump was calling a rather liberal strike zone, too. I think it was a combination of the two.

i agree.
he seemed to be fairly close with his high/low zone.

but left and right seemed to be so consistently bad in a consistent way, either one of 2 answers.
1. pitch trax was not accurate in it's set up. the camera angle was enough to left center that it was hard to accurately judge.
2. the way the umpire set up over martin's left shoulder, so far toward to the right hand batter that it skewed his view in a consistent way.

but something was way off.

agree,
got home a little late. stormy in eastern PA, in time for to see hollidays hit.

i was nervous turning on the game to see what happened to morton out of the shoot. was excited to see 2 outs and holliday up.

morton one more time through the top gets us sitting well.

we need a bit more from marte and walker as cutch through martin cant continue at this hot pace everygame, or can they!!!!!

check out the smoking gun (pun intended...radar gun, heh) in Pedro's AB in the 4th. Ball hits the dirt on the left corner of the plate, yet the pitch trax showed it dead center.

good pick up.

but even with that explanation, the batters and pitchers both seem a bit surprised by many calls.

it doesnt help that dick stockton is senile now and was fooled a lot.
hard to tell if he was going by sight or the pitch tracker, but he was bumbling and miss calling many pitches.

just as they said that the foot beat the tag to the bag at third base on the strike out/throw out. :L

wow are they late on wacha.
man against boys so far,

morton got to keep us close and lets make him throw strikes and work counts.

byrd's third strike was outside the zone tracker.

It looked off to me, and obviously to Byrd, but not to the only guy whose opinion mattered.

Wacha's playing that hard fastball well off his change so far. That's what's making the Pirates late. They're worried about his changeup.

I can't help but think that regardless of the outcome in this series, this is going to turn into a pretty big rivalry going forward given how well each organization has been run lately and the age of the talent
