Pettigrew V Levy

Two Mayhew draftees. Two Mayhew resignees. Two guys that a number of people didnt like getting the money they got. Two guys that got a little help, competion and support in the draft this year. Who's bringing more positive impact? The TE or the OLB?

No doubt it was Levy over Pettigrew last year, but have a hunch it will be Pettigrew this year.....I'm not really sure how to debate impact between a TE over a LB or vice versa. Are we talking tackles over receptions? TDs over INTs and Forced Fumbles?

I gotta go with Levy. He played at an All-Pro level last season, Pettigrew has been "Pro Bowl" good in the past, but never near where Levy was last season.

Perhaps Pettigrew needs a beard, too?

But Levy had a good season and looks to be the guy everyone hoped he would be. While Pettigrew has turned into the guy everyone hoped he wouldn't. I wonder if the Lions draft Ebron if Pettigrew put up close to 800-900 yards receiving and very few drops?

If Pettigrew doesn't have a bounce back I am willing to bet this could be his last season especially if Fauria or Ebron show any talent for blocking. Pettigrew has become a liability. He isn't good enough to live with the drops and his blocking can be found cheaper.

Thats My thoughts on Pettigrew, When guys in the NFL know they are expendable and someone is waiting in line behind them, they somehow show up too play.....Kinda like Contract years.....Everyone has seen it a million times once some guy gets big money the numbers fall off next year....

I think Pettigrew knows his feet are to the fire and now your dealing with lively hood.....When someone threatens to release you or take your job, they somehow play better, barring the ones with injuries that just can't help it.

I don't hate on Pettigrew the way most here do. I'm glad they brought him back. Maybe this staff will know how to get more out of him. However, Levy got my vote. He's the best LB on the team.

Two years ago I'm sure he thought Levy sucked, because let's face it, two years ago he did. It's just too bad two years ago we were on the CBS boards and hard to find the evidence.

I don't think Levy ever sucked, he just didn't come right out of the gates at the level he played at last year.

Considering that he was a 3rd rounder, I think he's on a very encouraging career arc. If last year was a sign of his progression and not just a one year anomaly then we might just have to start giving Mayhew some props on his third round picks. Getting two guys like him and Warford in 5 tries (2009 thru 2013) isn't half bad. That being said the busts of Spievey and that WR out of Penn State whose name currently escapes me kind of temper the really good picks a bit...

All in all, though, I'd happily trade all 5 of Mayhew's 3rd round picks (well, 6 now) for Warford. Not to get the cart ahead of the horse, but he was simply astounding as a rookie. Guys like Chance Warmack and Jonathan Cooper and even Kyle Long came out with all the fan-fare, but Warford would be a top 5 pick in a re-draft after the season he put together last year...
