Spurs have/had a pure PG in Parker. The Heat/Cavs had Lebron who operated as the defacto PG. A lot of these teams consisted of a lot of talent. Now, if the Lakers are sporting multiple all-stars, then you're right - they don't need a pure PG in that sense. Since that is not the case, the Lakers with their current personnel need a PG to tie everyone in together.

Point being, not all title teams are built the same.

Parker is not a pure pg

Why would the Lakers sign a 32 (33 in December) year old player? IMO, the Lakers will be better off forgetting about James and build for the future.

Because, super teams are all the rage nowadays and he also wants to be an owner one day and working and talking with Magic about that would only help. And even at 33 he'd still be a good player and better than what the Lakers have. James can play PF and score down low, rebound, and pass.

Not really. It is only good for the team who he wants to go to. Have no idea how this is good for the Pacers. So teams can lowball them? Yeah really good for the Pacers lmao

But you ok with with teams doing players any kind of way, huh?

I am just sick of these inmates running the asylum. 300 million dollar shoe contracts and they need to make 30 million a year, AND make demands to where they get traded. Pacers should trade him to new jersey or Minnesota so he is miserable his last year.

Why would he be miserable playing with the wolves for 1 year?

That team is considerably better then Indiana if you ignore Paul George

So LeBron can opt out of his contract with the Cavs after the 2017-18 season right?

Yeah, kind of funny how some folks feel players should have no choice in where they play.

And this is why I felt that the criticism of Lebron when he signed with Miami or when he went back to Cleveland was unwarranted
Same with Durant signing with Golden State

This is America - Lebron and Durant did what any of us have the right to do - choose where you want to work
Good for them

It's not a dick move. Teams will not trade for PG if he isn't committed to resigning with them. It's good to know where the players will and won't resign. That's why I applauded Melo for letting the Nuggets know his plans.
Personally - I thought he was being up front and honest and giving them an entire year to find something - this gives them the chance to trade PG as an expiring contractor for a player that a team might be looking to dump salary and rebuild. Not to be bring up the past in what LeBron James did to Cleveland the first time was a dick move.

I don't know. I don't send him a birthday card every year, you have me confused with Wiggy and LTCF.
LOL, I just wondered if the Lakers were to sign LeBron, how long would the contract be for?

I wonder what Todd thinks of this!

Buy his ass out, play our 2017-18 season without this problem child taking up a roster spot, show him the grass ain't greener on the other side, and get a free lottery pick.

They have a stipulation that cuts it down to 3 or 4 years due to age, I believe.

I only remember it because Paul fought to have it changed right in time for his next contract...lol

According to reports, the NBA's new CBA changed the "over-36" rule to "over-38.". The over-36 rule prevented teams from signing players to four- or five-year deals if they would turn 36 or older over the course of the contract.
