I'll see your natural talents in the 2000s and raise you all-in with the Disney-whored-whore "talent", plus the Black Eyed Peas.

Don't go playa-hatin' on my Disney whores.

Fair point on BEP. I don't see the appeal that has led to all of that Billboard magic. Even lyrically, they're awful to another level most of the time, and trite when they're at their very best. Critically, they've regressed since acquiring Fergie at the beginning of the 00s. It's not that Fergie is bad - she's just not great, and I don't think they've incorporated her well outside of "Meet Me Halfway." Maybe if she was half as inspired as Gwen Stefani, she could actually contribute positively to the argument.

I'd also like to add that the true alternative rock, the stuff that fed the 90s mainstream alternative music, was better in the mid-late 80s while it was still underground and didn't even have a name.

I agree 100%.

Musically for me the 90s was rough. I was not a fan of rap-rock and for every good Seattle band (or Seattle sounding grunge band) there were a bunch of bad ones. The main radio station I listened to at the time (hfs) was bought and reduced its playlist by a ton and became a 'just play the hits' station. I really didn't want to hear "Right Hear Right Now" every 45 minutes. Thats not uncommon but it was so unlike what the station was before. In fact while it made the station more profitable in the short run, in the long run it killed it.

Then factor in things like Mtv playing the same 5 videos over and over then no videos and even shows like 120 Minutes switched to mainly playing the same big hits of the week.

All your points aside on the BEP, they helped make the stupid auto-tune vogue.

Nobody's hating on the 50s, eh? Guess you have to respect the King.

If by king you mean Buddy Holly, then absolutely!

And anybody who voted for the 70s should be reminded that the greatest rock 'n roll song ever was released in 1971. Even if you somehow thought ever other song was crap, American Pie saves the entire decade.
