What are our predictions North of the Wall? I'm wondering if Beric Dondarrion is the specimen they bring back.

I could see him going down and the priest going to heal him and then they stop him. He said to The Hound a few episodes back he didn't know what his purpose was only that the Lord of Light chose him for a greater purpose (something along those lines).

Also regarding what Gilly read, that would make Jon heir to the Iron Throne and not Dany correct? If Rhaegar and Lyanna were wed then he's not a bastard and would be next up in the line of succession. I'm assuming that's what has Littlefinger spooked.

I guess it depends on who you ask. Feudalism can be a funny (if not ridiculous) thing. In terms of the Targaryen claim, Jon is the true heir based on that information. But remember the Targaryens were overthrown during Robert's Rebellion. If this news about Jon's parentage becomes common knowledge, then Jon's claim would be on par with what Viserys' claim was understood to be in Season 1. I say "understood" because Jon should have been ahead of him as well but nobody knew it.

I think 4 guys tops come back from that mission. Here's how I rank the characters in terms of their likelihood to survive the mission, starting with the most likely:

I think so yes. Other than we may get one callback to show the daughter dying. But it would be cool if the Mountain did something stupid and the mother (Ellaria) is able to kill him. But I doubt it.

Not disputing, but I missed that Davos is not part of Team Bad Ass. Guess I assumed he went.

As much as I love reunions, I am not sure that Gendry or the Hound survive. Arya reunions are the best.

I have learned that trailers can be very deceptive, but there is one image that has been released of Jon riding off on a horse, presumably from the battle. He seems to be alone. Which brings up all kinds of questions, including, do 6 of the 7 not make it back???

Why kill off Gendry at this point? What would have been the point of bringing him back if they just kill him off right away?

I think the two kings are the only two who are guaranteed to survive. Tormund is a close third most likely. The other 4 are all glorified red-shirts in this situation.

I missed it and thought he was going too until I read the roster somewhere and didn't see his name on it. Then when I re-watched the episode there was just a quick line of him saying in his thick accent that he would be staying behind. Very easy to miss.
