Ever since they "rebooted" the Star Trek franchise and rewrote the history, I've lost interest. Thank goodness for my DVDs and Blurays.

i actually feel it is the best way to reboot. I think the way they did it was fantastic and clever. Having Spock fuck up the timeline was genius to me. Just as long as they dont rehash already told stories. If it is indeed Kahn I hope its unique.

I saw it in HFR 3D, IMAX was sold out... I'll be going back next week to catch it in IMAX when the theater slows down a little bit.

I saw it in the HFR 3D and I thought it was great too. For me, the opening scene took a minute to get used to but after that it was no problem. My friend saw it on IMAX and wasn't as impressed with the visuals, FWIW.

I kinda wanna see HFR again. IMAX was awesome, but I do like the high frame rate better.

I don't understand how there could be negative reviews? I thought this movie was a home run.

I also thought it was brilliant. And I didn't have the motion sickness issue, nor did I see anywhere where it might happen. It seemed like pretty clean filming to me.

For those who have not watched it yet (why are you in the thread if you haven't), spoiler alert:

At the end, couldn't the eagles have just flown them the rest of the way? And if not, maybe drop them in a less precarious location? I guess beggars can't be choosers.

As far as I know, the eagles are only doing a favor for Gandalf and don't like to meddle in events than have a profound impact on Middle Earth. They're supposed to be like avatars of the Gods or some shit.

I didn't have any issues with the filming and motion sickness - I thought the shots were all VERY beautiful. I loved the riddle scene, but the whole movie was kind of a "pretty good" from me. I didn't like the perfect nature of all the fight scenes - how everything falls exactly into place. Like being on the stone giant and just perfectly falling into the crevace (was this entire scene even in the book?), the trees perfectly falling in a row until they were to the very edge of the cliff, etc. It seemed unnecessary and made it a little too unbelievable at times, and that took my mind out of the movie and into being more critical of it. It was a little more fantastical than Lord of the Rings. Maybe that is on purpose, but it missed me a little.

I also thought they worked a little to hard to say, "see... look... this part relates to the Lord of the Rings!" (the whole brown wizard backstory for example, again - was this even in the book?) It just lengthened the movie to no purpose or concern for the story of this movie itself. So, I thought it was pretty enjoyable, but it wasn't close to Lord of the Rings. I'd give the Lord of the Rings movies all 4 to 4 1/2 stars, but I'd only say a 3 1/2 for this one.
