Yea. I wish it was a little more on the childish side instead of the LOTR side. The fighting/action scenes felt a little forced. I still loved it enough to go see it three times. :L

another thing I missed the ring "accidentally" falling onto Bilbo's finger in identical fashion to how it fell on Frodo's.

oof I guess Ill have to see a third time :D

Looks pretty good, but I'm kinda down on The Hobbit. I'll go see it, but I won't be excited about it! :)

Get ready for the almost conclusion of the pre-cursor to the story you already know the end to!

Get ready for the almost conclusion of the pre-cursor to the story you already know the end to where we took a single book that was shorter than any of the LOTR books and split it into 3 movies even though each of those much longer books only got one movie!

FTFY

/will still go see the movie

I read the book when I was in 5th grade - I can tell you what happens if you really can't wait

I've read the book as well... Is there something wrong with wanting to visually see a beautiful portrayal of the story? Wtf is wrong with people? If you don't like Tolkien, or you don't fancy Jackson's deliverance of the literature to film, then don't view them and leave those that do enjoy it alone.

The only good thing I'll say about the Hobbitt is the film work. I like the frame rate or whatever the fuck they did.

The rest is shit. Barely deserved a 30 minute "short" and it's become 3 boring overly long movies.

I never read The Hobbitt. It was not meatty enough and drawn out way too long in a money grab effort..

Read the LOTR several times. 5 in fact.

Watched the Ralph Bakshi animated LOTR efforts because it was all there was when they came out. Disappointing for sure.

The extended versions of the LOTR trilogy suit me just fine, more or less faithful to the books.

But the Hobbitt leaves me cold.

Well that's it. 6 movies, 14 years and countless hours spent watching this middle earth. And it's all over. Just finished watching return of the King, after the last month of watching the first hobbit to this in order. Love or hate what Peter jackson did to this world I don't care I loved it. I will always love it

Thank you Peter I'll watch for many years .....

Yeah, they kick ass! I never get tired of watching them. In fact, after watching the Battle of the Five Armies, it inspired me to buy two books of Tolkein's that I've never read.

The Children of Hurin
The Silmarillion

Read Hurin, and I'm working my through the Silmarillion. It is awesome to read these books, and then have a resource like Wikipedia to research the names and lineage of the ancient elves and dwarves etc.

I really hope the Tolkein estate and Peter Jackson can come to some agreement to be able to make more films from Tolkein lore, because there are many more excellent stories to be told in film.
