I have a soft spot for this song.

Was playing this tune on guitar in the basement and my kid came down and was dancing around to it.
She was starting to learn piano at the time, so i brought her over to the piano (I know shit all about piano),
but taught her how to construct major, minor and 7th chords so she could play the song.
Had her show me where the D note is, then build a major off of that, etc

was one of my proudest moment as a father, and she has absolutely no recollection.
and doesn't play piano anymore either.

sigh. stupid kids.

Robbie McIntosh (drummer for the Average White Band) born on this day in 1950. Everybody knows this tune as soon as they hear it.

Can't believe it's been 9 years since MCA passed away.

When you hear the name Rupert Holmes, you immediately think Escape (The Pina Colada Song), but his follow-up hit that Old Guy Radio presents today went as high as #6 on the charts and it's a catchy little tune.

Over by the window, there's a pack of cigarettes
Not my brand, you understand
Sometimes the girl forgets
She forgets to hide them
I know who left those smokes behind
She'll say, "ah, he's just a friend"
And I'll say, "oh, I'm not blind"
